Go to Maggiem sports on ig and she has some posts from the state tourney where she plays all across the front and the backcourt. Makes me wonder if she may want to play OH, which could change the future depth outlook at MB. Regardless MB depth looks good. Better if Callie returns for her final year IMO. Love watching Callie and Kayla. If one or both come back, Huskers will be a better team. I believe that all of our middles are about winning at a high level and getting better. Maggie wouldn't have committed if she didn't trust the coaches' judgement and the training. She can get stronger, jump higher, hit harder, block better, and play smarter. Her true position in any season is going to show itself in the crazy practices that this team is going to have over the next few years.

If we go into next season with Kalynn, Becka, Maggie, and Rylee at MB, I believe that we will be more than fine. All of these girls have high level experience and are studs.

Any chance Maggie Mendelson might play or possibly want to play OH? Seems like somewhere I heard she has played some at OH recently. I'm thinking that may not be the coach's first choice. Maggie gives him four MBs and he's already got five Hitters. Plus, in a talented group with little college experience, IMO Maggie will be working hard to see if she can be the number one MB.

It's MB all the way. I wouldn't be surprised if we start game one with Allick and MM in the middle.

I have a question concerning recruiting. The NE coaching staff has put together a string of highly ranked recruiting classes. I'm a relatively new VB fan, my interest peaking within the last 5 years. The 19, 21, 22 and 23 recruiting classes maybe all ranked #1 nationally, if not very close. The 20 class was also very highly ranked. Is this unique to the last few years? Has Nebraska recruiting improved? I maybe over exuberant. Recruit ranking is a nebulous topic as the SA recruits are ranked based on their HS and club performance thru their sophomore HS year, at least initially. Many athletes peak later than that, and some SAs just fly under the radar, making these recruiting rankings a bit unreliable. On the other hand it appears that the NE staff recruits based in part on performance and evaluations from their clinics and game play. Actual performance not 3rd party rankings. Jaylen....... Jaylen is probably the best recruiter in the country. The list of girls NE turned down from the 2023 class would rank in the top 5. The 2023s were the last class the coaches had any contact with prior to the rule changes so these relationships go back years and it's clear they paid off.

Well, flying to Lincoln to surprise both coaching staffs to accept in person sets her apart some. GBR!

Not sure if anyone had brought it up before, but this is quoted by the LJS "Mendelson will likely be on a basketball scholarship, a sport that has three more scholarships each year than volleyball.
After the college volleyball season ends in December, the plan is for Mendelson to take two weeks off and then start practicing with the basketball team. She can also practice some with the basketball team during the summer."

That playing BB makes her better at VB and vice versa. Not sure where I read that, but somewhere recently. The fact that she is placing VB a bit ahead of BB while on a BB scholarship is not sitting well with some, but the NCAA requires that if she plays both, any scholarship has to be for BB. Don't follow BB much. Not familiar with NE WBB scholarship commitments or how many 2022 & 23 scholarships remained. Both the BB and VB staffs participated and coordinated in recruiting her. Jaylen played a big role. I think playing with the other 4 NE recruits on the national VB team and building friendships with them was a factor in her decision. Bodes well for the future. NE players seem to really get along with each other, and that helps solidify team commaradarie & play IMO, especially on a team with so much competition for playing time. Likely a consideration in NE recruiting, but I have no tea or inside info. It seems to me to take a special person to thrive and persevere in such a competitive environment. Frankly I could not, thus I'm very impressed with both the players and the staff that make it all work.

BB is getting a player they would never get because of vb, I’m sure they have no problem only having her 85% of the time as it’s better than none. It’ll we demanding mentally as she will really never just be a student. Best of luck to her, sounds like a special kid.

Is this good? This seems good. I’m so excited, but it’s also disappointing knowing we have to expect to lose some to transfer…Batenhorst/Krause/Lauenstein will still only be juniors, and Kubik 2.0 would be a sophomore.
