Have 35% of the entire training team committed is stupid. Double Jaylen's salary now.

How tough is it to recruit volleyball players to Nebraska? Not to take anything away from Reyes, I'm sure he's a fine coach and he'll have some opportunities to show what he can do with the players he recruited (all of Nebraska's prior success were with players he mostly didn't recruit), but lets not pretend that all these recruits are going to Nebraska because of Reyes. That's not to say he shouldn't get a raise but lets call a spade a spade - it can't be that hard to recruit to Nebraska. It's been a premier volleyball destination for decades, and NIL only cements the huskers' status as a top 3 program to sign with (if not #1), regardless of who the recruiting coordinator is.

Penn State's lackluster recruiting situation immediately following their great success in the Hancock years is a clear example that even elite programs need to put in the work. Rankings are meh these days, but "targets" are a bigger indicator and in Reyes' tenure, there are not a lot of athletes in these recruiting classes that Nebraska wanted and didn't get.

While it is true that there are many reasons a player might choose Nebraska over the competition, having a strong recruiter like Reyes on staff is a big advantage. By the way, Reyes has been an assistant coach since 2018 and his first year as the recruiting coordinator was 2019, so he has had a hand in recruiting and coaching many of the players on the roster.

I think you’re missing a few key points. First, there aren’t a ton of players out there that can really help you at that level. If you’re a top 5 program there aren’t but probably 25-30 kids out there who can make you better, and you’re recruiting against the other top programs for them. Secondly. While they are vb crazy at Nebraska, it isn’t an exceptional school academically, nor is it a particularly attractive campus, or exciting city. Where I do agree with you is that this isn’t a matter of Reyes being an amazing recruiter (I’m sure he’s great) this is about tradition and being a unique and special place for volleyball.

I agree that it's easy to recruit to Nebraska. Once we offer, no other program even tries to recruit these athletes.
I challenge you to name one Husker player since Jalen's been here who has had even one other D1 offer than Nebraska. You can't do it.

Recruiting may look easy. But I think if you asked Coach Cook what recruits got away, I think he could name some real fast. IMO Megan Hodge might be number one. I would not be surprised if he named Madison Lilley and Mac May.

Nonbiased opinions please, but what is the appeal with living in Nebraska for four years?

Nonbiased opinions please, but what is the appeal with living in Nebraska for four years? This seems like an asinine question. Everyone has to live somewhere, nowhere is perfect, and we all value different things.
