Nebraska will thrive with sigler. And their new middle. đ Very needed for next season. Nice recruiting .... sigler just keeps getting better. The 2025 competition between Landfair, Pierce and Sigler will be very interesting for us fans to see unfold. Also how Hunter recovers, and competes for OPP. The question I and everyone else has about Hunter is "who will she be competing against for the right-side position?" As of right now we have no one else at that position for 2025. I would be surprised if Cook doesn't go shopping in the portal for an experienced OPP. That appears to be a critical need for next year. If I were Skyler Pierce, I would be seriously considering a move to the right side. I doubt she can beat out Murray or Landfair for the left side starting position. If she moves to the right side, her only competition would be a true freshman coming off a serious injury.

If they bring a transfer OPP, Pierce would have to compete with that experienced player. I agree OPP is a critical need, so if the transfer portal provides, NE will likely seek. So I'm thinking Pierce will stay at OH. Someone previously suggested Landfair move to OPP. At 6'5" she has the height and physicality, if she wants to do it. Now at OH, she basically plays one rotation at OPP. However, after the last 2 matches, Landfair has me (and at least some others) a bit puzzled. Things for us fans to ponder and the coaches to deal with. It's more fun to be a fan, me thinks ... LOL.

besides transfers, what positions are the huskers going to need in 2027? setter? middle? do we think that flynn is taking over after bergen or will they go with a 4 year starter again? it's almost club season which means june will be here in no time.

The pattern has been to go after a setter every other year. I don't recall there being a setter in the 2026 class so I think it likely they will go after a setter for 2027. We will also lose Murray and Jackson after 2025, so another middle and right side probably would be a priority. The bigger question will be who the head coach is in 2027. Cook will be 71 in 2027. That is pretty old. I think it highly likely we will have a new head coach by then. Another big question will be how many players they will want on the roster, assuming we are in an 18-scholarship world by then. It is ok to only have 14 players on the roster when you can recruit almost the entire US junior national team. Will the new coach continue to be able to do that?

Setter, Outside and Middle. I donât see Oppo unless Hunter doesnât regain competitive form. Jayden Robinson and Hunter as opposites in 25 and 26 leads me to believe they wonât actively seek another in 27. I think most of the 25s will be here in January so one would think theyâll have an idea on Hunter before June 15th. Setter might be interesting. Marissa Jones is the setter in that class. Nebraska usually pitches an opportunity to compete and the chance to earn the spot. If youâre the #1 setter and can go somewhere without a junior/ redshirt sophomore in the team USA pipeline⌠obviously what wasnât a deterrent to Campbell. That being said, what NC contender is gonna have a wide open setting depth chart. Weâd absolutely need a 2nd setter so if Jones wants to play early there are still several 27s that would be at Nebraskaâs desired level. Jayden Livings from USC has twin sisters in the 27 class that both appear to be high major recruits at Middle and Opposite. If they want to go somewhere together, I donât think anyone turns that down.

I get vibes that Cook will stick around until Bergen and Harper graduate. Any idea who his replace could be?

Others on here have noted this, but when Dani Busboom-Kelly signed a new contract with Louisville a few years back she included a clause that there would be no buyout required if the Nebraska head coaching position came open and she took it. That is a pretty clear indication of her intentions. Plus, she is a Nebraska native who played for the Huskers and was an asst coach for the Huskers. I think she wants the Nebraska job. Personally, I think she would be an excellent choice. I can't think of anyone more qualified for the job.

But the luxury is, there are only a small handful of coaches we can't get. Elliott isn't leaving Texas to come to Nebraska. This isn't a better job than Texas. Maybe Hambly won't leave Stanford. Likely Nebraska isn't a better job, and the pay would be about the same, but it'd be easier to recruit to Nebraska. Maybe Sheffield wouldn't leave Wisconsin for Nebraska. Again, likely a lateral move, and he's already got a great thing going in Madison. But just about everyone else would take the job.

If she wants it, no way does he get it over her.

I feel like if Cook leaves & he doesnât receive the head position, then he may look for a head position outside of Nebraska. Leads to another question, with a new head coach, would the supporting staff remain mainly the same or complete turnover? In my mind it would be DBK vs Reyes
