Just to play devil's advocate, do you think it possible that teams knew McClendon would be the biggest risk and planned ways to shut her down? Now granted, if McClendon is their biggest weapon, Louisville needs to plan for other teams to scout the heck out of her and she needs to be crafty and able to adapt to opponents' attempts to shut her down. If you're really curious to play devil's advocate, look at her stats for the two matches this weekend, then look up last year's box scores. She's yet to have a decent (e.g., above .200) hitting day against Top 30-type teams. She's a fiery player, plays good defense, etc., but you need to bring it at least once in a while to be a B1G-caliber "weapon." Fair. I did not consider her 2013 stats.

Louisville does some nice things, scraps like you would expect an Anne Kordes team to do. Setter is a fighter, and works well with the middles. But, all in all they only have one true weapon that would match up against the Big Ten teams, McClendon. Uhh what? The girl who hit .050 and .130 this weekend? She's not her sister. If anything, it was the middles who would be the "weapons" True, I guess my impressions of watching her were more favorable than the actual stats. But she did score 16 points for Louisville. The middles were very effective, but I don't know that, if Louisville were in the Big Ten, that they would have that kind of success all the time. Blab is nice, but from watching her once, she seems to be one of those strangely successful outsides that teams don't get a good read on.

If teams aren't getting a read on her, she owes a lot of thanks to George being deceptive. However, I doubt she'll be very successful in the ACC, she certainly hasn't been before.

Post Non-Conference Power Rankings: The non-conference slate was kind of a mixed bag of results. We all know about FSU and UNC, but I think Pittsburgh has flied relatively under the radar in their 11-1 start, with just 4 sets lost all year. On the more disappointing side, the Virginia schools have underperformed greatly and with Toni Alugbue's injury Notre Dame has become dismally bad. The conference overall looks like it will get between 1-3 seeds and 3-7 teams into the tourney.
Teams in position to get seeded:
1. FSU 2. UNC
Chance at getting seeded:
3. Duke
Positioned to be in:
4. Pitt 5. Louisville 6. NC State
Outside looking in:
7. Miami 8. Clemson 9. Va Tech
Rebuilding year:
10. Virginia 11. Syracuse 12. Wake Forest 13. Georgia Tech
Please leave the confernce: 14. Notre Dame 15. Boston College
Standout players: OH: Leaf, Walch, Jessica Wynn, Sklar, McAdoo MB: Burrington, Tess Clark, Kaitlyn Karney, Amanda Orchard, Sims RS: Treacy, Jenkins, ? Setter: George, Templeton, Fuller Libero: Karelov, Claesen

And then Louisville goes and loses to Boston college?
That's what I call a "bad loss"

FSU sweeps UNC 22,22,30.. The score reflect a very hard fought battle between two strong defensive teams.
FSU 14 blocks UNC 6 blocks
Libero Mosher dug a lot of balls in 3 sets -19 in all and upped a lot of balls off UNC blocks.. as well 5 nice assists. Walch had a huge double double also as did setter, Wickstrom
impact players for FSU : Mosher, Walch , Wright
Tully is a tough environment to play and FSU has not lost an ACC match there since 2011
With Miami beating Louisville I have to rethink my top teams but FSU and UNC are my top two

BC beats Louisville!! Awesome!
Last year I think BC only won one conference game. Happy to see BC already tied with their last season record! Hehe

Does anyone know what has happened to Alexis Morning, Middle for Miami? Some people had her listed as Pre-season All ACC. I noticed she has not played a set this year and wondered if she was hurt.
