Judging from the satellite pic, it's a really enormous building, but there doesn't seem to be much parking available anywhere in the vicinity. That can't be good news for hosting large tournaments. Parking will not be an issue. The facility will have a combination of 850 parking spots, both onsite and in closely adjacent lots...

I like how mmtsc liked all the questions without answering them. Over 60 court facility and all we get is a photo of May on the site. Questions signify curiosity, which signifies interest, and we like interest. The MMTSC is currently in the process of undergoing all construction and permits in order to open on October 1st. Not to worry, good things come to those who wait. =)

Why not advertise a picture of Misty wearing an USC visor.
Make it like the Galen Center South OC.
Draw in all those USC football fans residing in Orange County.

How much yearly and monthly? Has Miss Treanor bailed on her Southern Cal gig?

The floors are a strong selling point. After practicing and playing on SportCourt sitting on concrete for years my kids knees finally stopped hurting.
Club basketball is a big business in SoCal and quality court time and excellent floors can be hard to come by.
A good food alternative, hopefully at fair prices would be a welcome change to the ASC options after big Mike got the boot..
A place to escape the noise levels sounds great me my ears.
In house training is only as good as the individualized plans developed by quality trainers for the individual athlete. Mike is an expert so hopefully he is engaged at a personal level.
I had heard there were going to be sand courts but no mention so far.
Saw MR @ LB last week in a new Ferrari so I wouldn't worry too much about who's paying the rent, on second thought, lol...

Has Miss Treanor bailed on her Southern Cal gig? USC really needed her at the finals but having the baby was a little more important. Being a mom is even a better gig even though the USC girls all offered to baby sit if she would come back to mentor them again. Most likely not in the cards for the Trojans unless one of those dads will donate a helicopter service.

It's too bad the site isn't closer to a beach, would help them foster a junior beach girls club during the summer, too.

The concept sounds great in theory, but there can't possibly be the space for that and adequate, accessible parking. There's not even a swap meet across the street. #notbuyingit

I gotta guess the monthly nut on a place like this is probably close to $35K as a ball park guess. Maybe 10K low or maybe 15K high. With competition from ASC and the facility in Garden Grove it is going to be hard to make this go unless they start renting court space to club teams already in the area. If they want to start up a high level club team, they are going to have to scholarship the good HS players and that is going to make it even more challenging to crack that monthly nut not to mention dilute the talent in the OC area. Unless they have a lot of diversity among many other sports and activities, look for this to be a financial challenge. I think $35k is very low for a monthly estimate. The taxes alone on the property are $139,636.16 per year ($11,636/mo.). I can't find any reference to the square footage of the building but for that number of courts (22) would all be overlapping and not simultaneously used. My guess is that the building might be around 100,000sf. I also don't know what the prevailing rental rate is, but with an estimate of just $7/sf (and could be $13/sf or more), that means a monthly rent of $65,000+ (add the taxes and any other common area charges from the landlord). You'd also have to add in the cost of keeping the building running. Those estimates are if they are renting. Perhaps they bought, but the town feels that the property is worth $12m 'ish. If they borrowed $6m then their monthly payment would likely be around $37,000/mo. (so they would have needed $6m plus to borrow that little). Just some slightly educated guesses...

The facility is 155,000 sq feet including the corporate offices. The MMTSC features 22 30' x 60' volleyball courts with 10.5 feet of space from sideline to net, and 18 feet from end line (aka the serving line) to the net/wall on every court. This will provide for ample room for jump serving and dig chasing not offered in other facilities. Also, the ceiling height is 35' throughout the entire facility. All courts, basketball, volleyball and futsal, are completely interchangeable; there are not 60 individual courts, just enough space to have 22 courts at the same time.

I did read your response, but if you add outdoor sand courts, wouldn't they have to go where existing on-site parking is, which moves more parking "off-site" ? The adjacent parking lots appear to belong to other buildings, which suggests that they wouldn't be dedicated parking and perhaps available only at certain times. That's why I mentioned the swap meet--I'm sure you're familiar with the limited parking at the ASC and the issues with the swap meet parking lot across the street. Anyway, the math you are offering just doesn't seem to add up, but thanks for the info and best of luck.

Skepticism, not pessimism. I'd love to see it succeed, but it's a hard venture to pull off. It doesn't matter how nice or complete the facility is if you can't readily get to it.
