I wish Misty considered adding tennis facilities as well. Tennis runs in her family's blood on her mom's side. In time, this could be arranged.

Misty's cousin, former pro player Taylor Dent (UCSB) already has a tennis academy based out of Los Caballeros Country Club in Fountain Valley, which is just up the road from Irvine (Los Cab was also formerly home for TCA Volleyball). Seems improbable that Misty would want to directly compete.

Seems improbable that Misty would want to directly compete. Having another tennis facility doesn't necessarily mean competing against him. It sounds more like Taylor's program is a junior tennis academy that just uses the Country Club's facilities. If MMTSC has courts and facilities, Taylor can move his academy there in a business partnership.

Well, there doesn't appear to be any space to put tennis courts at the current site anyways.

I am a volleyball parent for years and my daughter plays now. I've done a lot of research on the MMTSC. Let me tell you it's going to be amazing and all other clubs will need to watch out. Parking, no problem. There will be 350 parking spaces at the facility and more across the street. 22 indoor courts with all more space to serve than the ASC and higher ceilings. 2 to 3 sand courts for a summer beach club. 8-10 investors so money is not a problem with Footsal, and basketball in there as well as boys and girls vball clubs, adult leagues, camps/clinics. million dollar restaurant overlooking to see my daughter practice and/or play in tournaments. Heard that SCVA already reserved every weekend except a couple for tournaments. Looked into the coaching staff and it's top coaches and directors. Plus, heard that Misty will be at all tryouts and there a few times a week. My daugther did her beach camp.

Mr. Gay is overseeing all volleyball operations. He has 3 or 4 top coaches/directors working under him on both the boys and girls side.

I look forward to checking it out in October. It still will take time to build a competitive club from scratch. I doubt the first year they field 17s and 18s open teams. If they do, their teams won’t be competitive with the top SCVA teams. They will have to build a core group of kids at the younger ages and work up from there through the first couple of years. It will be interesting to read the bios of their coaching staff when it is up on the website.

From what I've heard from my older daughter playing on a varsity HS team now and on a top 17's club team last season, a lot of girls even at that age are at least going to the tryouts and are all talking about it on social media. It wouldn't surprise me if they get a top notch 17's and 18's team with that facility.

Mission Viejo VC is folding into this (http://www.mvvbc.com/) Tustin VBC is folding into this (http://tustinvolleyballclub.com/)
I recognize Christy Stoeckel and Josh Ko's names from Saddleback Valley. Todd O'Malley from Wave. Dan O'Dell formerly of UCLA is the coach at Mater Dei. Hasn't Gary Nakamura been with OCVC forever?
And they have Misty May, Debbie Green and Donald Suxho as floating coaches and clinicians? Something tells me they will convince some kids to jump. If some clubs in OC aren't making it now, they may soon be put out of their misery. I know I wouldn't want to have to match sales pitches with them.

Because of the reputation of Misty and some of the coaches, the fact that a couple of clubs will be folding into this new one, and I anticipate a larger than normal tryout, will they be able to have more than 1 elite team for each age group?

At the younger age groups, that might be a possibility. In the older age groups it is going to be difficult to create 1 elite team, much less two.

This is the most disappointing opening I've experienced since "John Carter".
Misty May and the facility might be a reason people come to check it out in the first place, but the coaches are the reason they stay.
