Happened to be looking at Oregon's vb website and noticed that there are no coaches listed for 2004. Does this mean that Carl Ferreira is gone?

At first I thought so, but when I looked at the volleyball player roster, it is also empty. So, this may just indicate that the site has cleared all 2003 entry.

Actually, never mind. I answered my own question. They didn't have players listed for 2004 either.

It's possible the ADs at both Oregon and Iowa didn't think volleyball was a high enough priority to disturb their respective travel plans for the Holidays. It's also possible that many coaches don't think these two schools are attractive enough and the ADs thought any new coach they get can't do any worse.
Or, I'm just fishing for lame reasons...

Crockett got hers extended the season before last. And promptly responded with a big 1-19 season. Hm, money well spent.

There were many of us who would have bet the back 40 on 0-20.
1-19 beat expectations!

I was surprised that Iowa even won a game in the big ten, let alone a match. Of course, it took over half of the big ten season for them to win a game. I guess it would be good for Rita to get an extension so that the other teams will have at least two guaranteed wins.

I wonder how many other Big Ten Coaches are kicking in money to Iowa to help cover Rita's 95K$ a year contract, so they can get at least two wins in a year? (damn you Purdue!!) I mean, 6-59 in games isn't that bad, is it?

I mean, 6-59 in games isn't that bad, is it? I'd bet if it were possible Minnesota would kick in money to help Iowa become more competitive. Having the Hawkeyes as a travel partner almost every year definitely hurts the Gophers once the conference season starts. The majority of their opponents don't give much more than an afterthought to Iowa during practices before weekend matches against Minnesota / Iowa so they can focus pretty much completely on working against Minnesota's strengths / weaknesses / tendencies. Illinois' head coach said after their cloase 5 game match victory over the Gophers that his team spent absolutely no time practicing for Iowa.
