The arrival into Khabarovsk of two American napadayushchikh. Lauren Duggins and Lily Kahumoku had long been planned, but was carried out only very recently. On Sunday January 11th by voyage from Seoul, the newly-made players of Samorodka arrived, flying into the capital of the Far-Eastern federal region. Their first interview on the Russian earth took place after one of the trainings.
>You have been in Russia several days already. What are your feelings about the new country?
Lauren Duggins: "First, this here is absolutely different, from the [machines] to the weather, especially the weather. Besides the cold, everything around is absolutely white. On the whole, many things for us are different . However, people here are very good. The Trainer, the girls, and all who surround us accepted us very cordially. Conditions are good, we are contented by all. To us, here is very interesting...each day we learn something new."
Lily Kahumoku: "I think that all was formed with specific stereotypes about Russia, which to us was intensified by the media. [But now, when I arrived in this country, I am convinced, that majority of the fact that they issued for the clean coin not thus.] All the people are very good and are responsive, but it is very cold here. This is the truth" ( she smiles). "In Hawaii cold is considered a temperature decrease to?+20? degrees, and zdes'? we already bought all the warm things possible, but nevertheless we still freeze on the street. This is a vital lesson to be here."
describe how you were invited into Samorodok
Lauren: "The representatives of Samorodok were connected with the assistant of my chief trainer in Hawaii and proposed to me to try Samorodke." At first she did not know what to think. "But after they told me that Lily is also invited, I didn't have a doubt."
Lily: "With me the situation is practically the same. I also doubted, and it is worthwhile to change and to go a distant cold country. When they told me that I would not be going alone, but together with Lauren, I agreed, and we went together."
>Why you did arrive only during January?
Lauren: "We are students of the University of Hawai'i. When our team was done with Playoffs (local championship), we were forced to pass two weeks of semester studies. Then it was necessary to pass finals and having been only freed, we then knew how to arrive."
Lily: "We solved, that we will continue it's instruction at the university. Leaving, we promised that we will not throw studies. Send us to the encounter. When the season ends and we return home, we'll make up what was missed. Oh, and simply for us it is not necessary."
>For sure, after arriving into the new command, you want something to dostich'. What precisely?
Lily: "To us personal achievements are not important." And these are grandiloquent words "If our Team wins, we will be very happy. From our side, let us apply maximum efforts."
For those several days that you have been with Samorodok did you feel the difference in the training process?
Lauren: "Certainly. In Hawaii we did thousands of repetitions of different exercises, and each day was compulsorily devoted to the work on protection, one hour. Here entirely another system, another accent in the training exercises."
>did you have time to look at the city?
Lily: "We visited the central street of Khabarovsk and what struck me was the icy sculptures. Very beautiful. Never it saw anything similar."
Lauren: "Yes, they were beautiful to me too. I got the impression that the central street was made in the ancient style."
>Platinum arena? did you visit already?
Lauren: "Unfortunately, still no. We passed by, it's beautiful."
> What was the capacity of the arena you appeared in, in Hawai'i?
Lily: "accurately, I do not know. I can only say that at each game 7-8 thousand fans were present. However, record visit was fixed with 11 thousand spectators. We were very popular in Hawaii" (She laughs).
>You already heard about those distances, which for you is necessary to overcome, reaching to the visiting matches? In Moscow from Khabarovsk, for example, is 8.5 hours by air.
Lily: "Pravda? It's something for us to fear. Our longest trip was into Virzhiniyu. We flew 14 hours from Atlanta" *
