Outside guess at the Notre Dame job -- Mike Lingenfelter, currently of Asics Munciana (club). He's former coach at Cincinnati (twice), and was at Memphis between those two stints. He has been out of college ball for a while, but his daughter has finished HS, and he has said many times that Notre Dame was on the list (of 2 schools) that he would consider. Don't be surprised if his name is in the mix. Yeah...no. Hide yo kids, hide yo wife.

Hey Y'all, new to volleytalk (as a poster) but had to express my surprise that Mississippi State is only offering up to $80,000 for a new coach?! Wasn't the current coach making beyond that $80,000 figure? This from an SEC school that is getting a big influx of money from the SEC Network and is set to complete what is likely it's highest-grossing year in football history. Seems like if they don't realize that they have to put up some coin if they want to attract a top-notch coach. It is unclear to me what their goals are with respect to volleyball. I expected them to offer $90,000 to $120,000 with this hire. Not many higher-profile assistants or HC's in solid spots will be willing to take the risk the MSU job entails for this amount of money, which is who I expected the administration to want to attract. I did a little research on the school's performance over time, and was surprised with some of things I found: Tina Seals (2004-2008; 5 seasons) overall win percentage: .453 SEC record: 27-65 (.293) RPI: 136, 116, 107, 127, 264 (avg. RPI: 150)Jenny Hazelwood (2009-2014; 6 seasons) overall win percentage: .286 SEC record: 20-96 (.172) RPI: 196, 179, 142, 235, 155, 233 (avg. RPI: 190)I had no idea that this program had performed worse, by a significant margin, under the most recent coach than in the 5 years prior. Since 2009, for instance, they haven't had a single year with an RPI as good as the second-worst during the Tina Seals years. Even if you exclude that awful 2012 season where MSU had no conference wins, the Hazelwood years are far worse. I'm not saying that Coach Hazelwood is necessarily the problem, but what seems clear is that MSU is progressively reducing its resources devoted to, and interest in and support for volleyball at a time when most would expect them to do the opposite, due to an increasing profile of the SEC and MSU. So where do they go for a new HC? My guess is that they are unlikely to find a coach as passionate and committed to long-term success, as Hazelwood (alum, was in it for long-haul), especially with that low salary. Do they interview the assistant coaches for the job? I quick look at the bios on the website shows that Samantha Wolinski has a lot of experience - maybe she's who they want? The other coach Peter is fairly new...It's a unique part of the country in that local ties probably hurt more than help. I can't help but think they are going to have real rough time with this hire. I don't know Hazelwood but I know in the last 3-4 years they have had more kids leave than any other program(I don't have number on other schools). Now long term success is built on culture and when you have a lot of kids leave every year for some reason or another you need to take a look in the mirror. Just my opinion. But 80-100K is probably ok for that part of the country. Yes other school in the conf might pay more but for an up and coming coach that's pretty big money for 28-32 year old. Hazelwood's base salary was $75,000. In Mississippi all head coaching contracts are public record and posted in online meeting minutes.

We have a hiring (or promotion) with a coach being awarded for a great season. "Thais Franca was thrown into one of the most awkward situations possible in her young coaching career. Franca was assisting Melissa Chaplin in hopes of building the University of Mary volleyball program. Chaplin was suspended in the midst of the season and Franca was named the acting head coach on Sept. 26. The school has never released the full details that led to Chaplin’s dismissal due to employee privacy and confidentiality issues. The fruits of Franca’s labor were rewarded on Thursday when she was officially named the head coach. U-Mary finished last season 4-25 overall and 1-19 in the conference." bismarcktribune.com/sports/franca-promoted-to-volleyball-coach/article_47c33082-7c3f-11e4-b67d-1352259b5d1c.htmlAnd one of the greatest lines from a bio ever: "Franca is certified with the USA Impact Volleyball Program with increased mastery and professional application of coaching theory." This year IMPACT will include SafeSport certification which will be a plus on any resume. That's hilarious ! Love it!

I'm just reading resumes, but tell me why Notre Dame volleyball needs experience when their women's lacrosse and women's soccer teams do not? If they wanted experience, I think they could have stuck with Debbie Brown. Look, I'd rather see a Craig Skinner there but I don't know why they would be so successful with young female coaches with little experience or even success in two other sports and then suddenly decide they needed to put up a top 5-10 salary for the new volleyball coach. I'm not saying there isn't a reason, I just can't think of one, so I for one won't be shocked if it this hire seems to be off the wall at first. Agreed with this. But the hierarchy of sports in Ncaa puts VB well above soccer or lacrosse. And with lacrosse being pretty much brand new who the heck would have a long and storied resume? Who is a Russ Rose of lacrosse? Success spanning decades? The ACC is the top conference in NCAA women's soccer. Once again the national champion will be from the ACC this year after UVA and FSU square off on Sunday.

Christie Johnson at Iowa State Todd Dagenais at Central Florida Lizzy Stemke at Georgia All have Mid West Ties I can see Todd moving! He is young enough, ambitious and experienced with great resume. Have to disagree here, what has Todd done? 7 years at UCF, just now having a good season - once all the top teams left the conference. great guy but really hasn't done much imo, could be good timing for him tough.

What has Todd done... He's taken his program to a conf title, the NCAA tournament, and real close to beating Miami to move on... No need to take a shot at a coach doing great things for his kids and program!

Odd that we haven't seen Kyle Robinson from LIU Brooklyn mentioned for any of these jobs. All he's done is win back to back to back NEC coach of the year awards, hasn't lost a conference match since the 2011 and an NEC Three Peat.

If I've got a complaint, it's that it takes him several days to answer emails or phone calls...then again, you can fill in your favorite D-1 coach's name right there and it's still valid!

So, how many emails are you sending? Are you "saying hi,"asking for something," "giving your DDs stats from her high school game?" Coaches have lots of responsibility, we need to realize that they only have a certain amount of time per day to work emails. And like you stated this is not uncommon. Cut some slack. And if you have ever been on campus you should see how much a difference he has made to raise the profile on one of the fastest growing campuses (athletically and number of students" in Florida. 15 years ago I thought of it as a commuter/cow college as we would say in Texas, now I wouldn't hate my son going there in a few years.

Todd turned around the entire university you say? Maybe he should take Father Jenkins job and not Debbie's.

All he's done is win back to back to back NEC coach of the year awards, hasn't lost a conference match since the 2011 and an NEC Three Peat. Kyle is from Philly and went to college at LIU's other campus. He's worth a phone call but I wouldn't expect him to want to go to Starkville or Waco.
