Maybe Hayden will end up with the Gophers yet? Do you want her to? And if she does what position? I just don't see it...I look at her as having top D2 coaches drooling over her. Maybe D1 in the Missouri Valley or the Summit but nothing higher... Fair enough. From the little I have seen, I think she would flourish and be much more comfortable in D2, likely putting up very good numbers. And yes, I attended high school in her athletic conference, so for that selfish reason alone I would like to see her succeed and play to her highest level. Always easy to root for the hometown kids.

I don't see where Hayden and Carlson fill the same role, either. I am confident Minnesota knows what they are doing. I guess I don't know much about Carlson. Has she been playing more middle or outside? But yes, I also have faith that our recruiters are doing the right thing. We should be in pretty good shape for the next few years, generally speaking.

Hayden has found her stride. She was the clutch player and played powerful in Kansas City. Played all around as well. She is doing quite well in open competition.

Throwback...Sunday? Enjoying some 2009 Gopher vs. Florida State regional final action.
Call me crazy, but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between this 2009 team and the projected 2015 team. We have Love/Santana as the freight trains/hammers on the left side, Cowles/Goehner as the smaller, yet still very talented and versatile OHs, Wilson/Wilhite as our safe do-it-all/RS/utility players, Carico/Swenson as two (albeit different) dynamic setters, and great middles all around.

Idk, I don't really see the parallels. That team played with ALOT of confidence, and the players we have right now are a little less demonstrative on the court (aside from Daly). That team also had incredible defense from Tan and Granquist that just isn't comparable to this team. While I get what you mean with Daly and Love, Love was also 4 inches taller and didn't get exert as much energy going for swing after swing like Daly does. Wilson was flat out better than Wilhite is, so I'm not sure I quite see that comparison.
I do see the comparison in middles from the two teams, and I agree with your Cowles/Goehner connection at the 2nd OH spot, so I do agree with some of the logic.

According to Coach Mccutcheon's Twitter they must have gotten another big recruit! "@mccutcheonmn: It's a great day to be a Gopher, a another big time recruit agrees! Chalk another commit up. #Gophers"

Sounds like a big get from the way it's worded...true?

I don't think the Gophs have ever had a SPRI setter, other than the Nucci transfer and Blatt (and she left the program (or maybe she never was in it, I forget)). So that will be interesting.
16-1 is nothing to be scoffed at, especially given the program's rep for producing setters.
Regardless, it's a good sign that Minnesota continues to get some commits from out-of-state players.

Alex Blatt played on the 2008 team. She was mainly a backup for senior Hartmann. Btw, what club did Rachel Hartmann play for? I know she was from IL.
