..and Johnson is also a completely different player than Bell. Where are you getting all this information from? I don't understand. Your fans are all idiots. LOL.......go to another thread and post your arrogance.
I said physicality not same player; there is a difference. Johnson, coming out of HS, has similar physical athleticism as Bell. I guess you live in Texas and get to see these players regularly..... hence, your know-it-all attitude.

Physicality vs. physical athleticism? Really? Again, Texas fans are idiots. Seek help.

If Dalton is ready to go this fall, a 6-2 is inevitable with all the hitters on this team. And unfortunately, that puts Amy back in the line-up since a 6 rotation hitter is needed to pass on serve-receive every rotation due to the substitution rules. Even though there are claims that Ebony can pass on serve-receive, she had none of those responsibilities the 2 years she was at USC or on her club team at TAV, so it's highly unlikely it will happen this season at Texas.
In a 6-2 line-up: Setters: Nicole, Chloe (sub for Opps) MBs: Chiaka, Molly (Morgan Johnson could play her way into the line-up if her blocking is solid b/c she's attacks well in front of the setter like Chiaka) Opp hitters: Ebony, Yaazie LS hitters: Paulina, Amy (Micaya plays all 6 rotations in a 6-2 on her TAV team, but her passing/floor defense is a step below Amy's at this point) Libero: McCoy (subs for MBs in the back row) DS: Brooks (for Paulina in the back row)
If Nicole isn't ready, a 5-1 line-up that will probably be run is: Setter: Chloe MB1: Molly (this is the position where Molly would shine as it will allow her to run her slide attacks) MB2: Chiaka Opp: Ebony OH1: Paulina OH2: Yaazie or Micaya Libero: McCoy DS for Ebony: Kat Brooks (if needed) DS for OH2: Amy or Lauren or Natalie (but I'd prefer either freshmen over Amy since they've been playing as Liberos their entire career)
Running a 5-1 will help vary the offense by running the slide attacks and allows more options in putting better ball controllers/floor defenders (DS players) on the back row...something that has really hindered the team from getting past the Final Four the past 2 seasons IMO.
Chloe's blocking may be a liability in the front row, but Penn State won a natty in 2010 with their 5'7 setter that year....and this Texas team has many of the same similarities: a great out-of-system Opposite who can hit out of the back row (Ebony), heavy hitting left sides (Paulina, Yaazie, White), MBs where the offense can be run through consistently (Chiaka, Molly), a solid Libero (McCoy), and a good GROUP of DS's that Texas has lacked for awhile (Brooks, Beard, Gilbert). And if by chance Dalton is completely healed and can play all 6 rotations at setter, this team could make a solid run to the National Title match...

DS for OH2: Amy or Lauren or Natalie (but I'd prefer either freshmen over Amy since they've been playing as Liberos their entire career) Wow! Amy Neil is an elite level volleyball player. One of the best in the country since she was in junior high. She isn't a superstar OH because of her size, but if you are putting your hopes and dreams on the two freshman to be better than Amy, Uh-oh...Gilbert is very athletic, but pretty average on the Open club scene. Beard is on TAV's second team. Certainly not the game changing type of defensive players that Texas should warrant. They are walk-ons for a reason.

One of the best in the country since she was in junior high. You lost me at this statement... Sorry, but you are blind if you think Amy provides what this team needs, which is a ball control player on serve-receive and strong floor defender. Freshman year, she didn't see the court as Dalton and Brooks were the first two DS's off the bench. Sophomore year, she was shankzilla as a DS. Last year, she improved but still wasn't consistent enough as teams would target her. This spring, she continued her error-prone ball control ways against teams like SMU and UTSA. Those deficits tend to get ignored b/c people get excited that a player her size has a whip of an arm against mediocre teams, but she has shown to get shut down against teams that can match Texas across the net. Like I said, in a 6-2, I can see Amy in the starting line-up out of necessity to run that system. In a 5-1, I'm going with Paulina and Micaya/Yaazie as the LS's in the front row with a DS who can actually provide consistent ball control for 3 rotations.

Oh I am not a huge fan of Amy's. Just pointing out the difference in lineage as an "elite" level player. If you are expecting the two you mentioned to come in and take her job and magically raise the level of Texas defense, I think you may be mistaken. Those two are decent players, nothing more. Walk-ons. Not that there is anything wrong with that, they have an awesome opportunity that very few players get, and I wish them and the program the very best. It's just that the nation's elite back-row players get schollies, and UT might be smart to invest in more than one of those (McCoy), instead of putting virtually every dollar they have in to ball crushing.

Also, a lot of people forget when talking about how Texas never recruits ball control players is that 2 out of 3 of Texas' ball control/outsides were/are too injured to play. Dalton being one of the best. If she was 100% she would be a PERFECT L2. Like a lesser version of KRob.

Trying to do some "scholarship math" on the Texas roster. Looking at their returning roster and incoming class, I count 12 scholarship kids...BEFORE Ebony comes on board. Obviously I'm missing something there. So, who are the walk-ons gonna be this Fall? (Note: I'm sure I could find this info somewhere on this thread and/or Ebony's thread. But I'm new to both and wouldn't know where to look in the 100+ pages.)

Maybe the basketball team is "loaning" them another scholarship. Freeball, what is the purpose of this post? This is similar to the allegations of corruption that get brought against Nebraska volleyball, so why are you trolling Texas?
