My apologies; I stand corrected!
Chronologically what occurred first: Prieto-Cerame's decision to transfer to Texas from Penn State or Bell's decision to play basketball her senior year?

Think about it: 1) McCage 2) Neal 3) Collins 4) Dalton 5) Ogbogu 6) Prieto-Cerame 7) Nwanebu 8) Baselovic 9) McCoy 10) White 11) Bedart-Ghani 12) Johnson

Bell didn't play basketball her senior year - wasn't even on the roster. If she played VB on a BB scholarship, that's not kosher.

Since she wasn't listed on the roster or in any match statistics, is it certain that she even received a BB schollie?

Doesn't matter if she got playing time. If she plays both sports, the schollie has to come from BB. Is that what happened? I'd heard a player went on academic scholarship to make room for Prieto-Cerame. Not that anyone switched to a different sport.

But I highly doubt that happened, if only because it would be hard to cover that up. Again, I heard that someone had taken an academic scholarship to facilitate that transfer.

The following is a quote made by texasex01 in the "Texas vs Zhejiang on 10/28/14 (2nd Exhibition Match)" thread last fall: Khat Bell will be playing basketball after volleyball season is over. Since that exhibition match was televised on the LHN and the comment was posted during the match, I thought it was probably based on a remark made by one of the LHN announcers that night. Let's assume Bell intended to join the basketball team at mid-season and was thus placed on a basketball scholarship at the beginning of the 2014-15 academic year. If she subsequently changed her mind about playing basketball and never joined the team, is there really anything to "cover up"? IOW, is there some sort of NCAA violation lurking in this fact pattern?

Which would be hard.

Forget quotes from the thread and from the LHN broadcast.
Prior to the season, Kat Brooks was awarded a vb scholarship from Elliott. But when Prieto became available, Brooks voluntarily gave up her scholarship for Prieto.
Hattis, not Bell, was on a basketball scholarship during the '14 season as she was during the '13 season. Who knows if Bell was going to be on a basketball scholarship instead of Hattis. Bell playing basketball made zero sense to most of us. It was probably a dumb / misinformed statement from the tv commentator. As everyone now knows, Hattis has given up volleyball for basketball.

Elliott though. He is a really nice guy. Just like to see them lose in everything. Makes me happy.... It's just smack talk. Having some fun!
