The ironic thing about wahinefan44 making fun of Nebraska is Hawaii. If you want to find a cure for stupid, take a tissue sample from wahinefan44..... i get that your mad because Hawaii hasn't had it's own thread in this forum since the 90's but you're going to need to get over it.

Does anyone know if Dalton is ready for season yet or will she be ready to go? Or is Chloe setting the offense this season? She's got some huge girls with power this year! If they can put it all together and our freshman play like PSU's freshman played last year, Texas will be right up there. Any thoughts? haven't been on in a while!

Can I just summarize so this %*$# doesn't go on for 3 pages. DevaluationVB will come on to talk about how Chloe was recruited too early and should have been evaluated more before being given a scholarship. He will also remind us for the 1,000,000 that she's 5'6" and her block will be exploited. Several posters will throw out shorter setters who've led their teams to titles. He will ignore this and continue to point out that Carpenter lost her starting job at PSU after she guided them to a title. SparkyBuck will come on to provide his expertise on setting technique because as anyone knows who has had a PM exchange with him, he's got a vast resume in coaching setting and how dare you express an opinion differing from his biased view of Collins' setting. He will remind us for the 1,000,001 time that Collins is 5'6" and can't block. Also she's lazy and doesn't locate her sets well. Some posters will point out her connection with the middles. This will anger him because you are questioning his expertise and his ability to objectively comment on someone he dislikes and he will resort to calling Texas' middles names. A majority of posters will say Nicole won't be ready to play in 2015. A couple of posters will question the medical credentials of this majority and the fact they get such close access to players that they can see her skinny legs.

You also forgot to mention Chisnovik, bball, and a few others will chime in with their expert opinions and then it will eventually turn from setting issues to "it really doesn't matter who is setting because Texas can't pass".
For a perennial top 5 team we sure do have a lot of issues!

I'm a little surprised you want to move discussions over to social media. I'd be more than happy to post it there but I'd want to use your name to give you credit for your "astute" observations on our setter's height. I bet her parents don't realize she's 5'6" But that wouldn't allow a coward like you the ability to anonymously post your venom. We both know why you don't want that type of forum, don't we?

Tempest, are you serious??? You think Collins is good?! She's average at best and 5'6"! UT deserves better. Elliot's rush to commit hurts pal. It's ok to admit.

Tempest, are you serious??? You think Collins is good?! She's average at best and 5'6"! UT deserves better. Elliot's rush to commit hurts pal. It's ok to admit. What I think of Collins is irrelevant. UT deserves better fans and supporters that is what I think. I continue to be surprised by the number of posters on this board who freak out everytime someone doesn't trash her. I don't get on this site to criticize the coaching staff on their recruiting decisions. I am smart enough to know that a lot goes into the recruiting process. Are mistakes made? Yes. Has our recruiting generally been world class? Yes. Being critical of a coaching staff that has done that well in recruiting is silly in my opinion. And jumping on this board to harp on a 5'6" setter OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again by grown ass men (most with axes to grind) is just pathetic. That was my point and I don't care to rehash Collins' abilities, I prefer to let her performance during the fall season do the talking. It is what it is at this point, there is no going back to redo recruiting decisions. Texas will go as far as Collins takes them this fall. I will enjoy the ride and not be some sad adult grown man jumping on this board in the spring and summer crying and bemoaning a lack of setter height especially when other programs have been successful with setters that aren't tall. It's even sillier when grown men who aren't Texas fans jump on to talk about an underachieving program that has made 6 of 7 Final Fours. Times are good at Texas and we'll look back in future years and possibly wish we had it as good as we do now.

It is sad that men can rant about a teenager and talk down on these young women that are putting their all into the sport of volleyball. While these players may have some concerns, that don't mean you should say anything that's not encouraging the player. A lot of these posters need some growing up to do even though they claim they know so much about the sport.

Yes she is 5'6 or 5'7, but probably the best athlete in college volleyball under 5'8 which allows her to play like she is taller. She is ideal for a 6-2, but she is a fierce competitor and I think that competitiveness would drive her to do well in a 5-1, if necessary.
Elliott's best attribute as a coach is his recruiting. No coach can see what the future holds for injuries, and if Dalton were 100% healthy they would be fine at the setter position.
I will say this though.......without Texas adding a setter this off-season Elliott must feel very confident Dalton will be healthy in 2015, and Collins can run a 5-1 and avoid injury.

Ok, well perhaps we are discussing two different topics. I agree with your comments on the recruting being excellent over the years. And it will continue to be, because every volleyball playing girl in America wants to go to Penn State, Stanford, Texas or USC. Not a chance that any of these school's cupboards run bare any time soon. Agree that one day we will all look back with appreciation on these times. However, that doesn't mean that just because I'm a graduate of UT, that I have to blindly support every one of the coaching staffs decisions, or that I don't have the right to believe that they have underachieved with all of the talent they have had. It is an embarrassment of riches in every corner of the Texas athletic department, and the fact that the football team is mediocre and that the VB program isn't winning BIG matches that they should, is a shame. Saying so, as an orange blood, is ok. That's what they teach at that fine institution, critical thinking and expressing opinion.

Yikes, I was only asking....ELEVATION, you seem pretty on point with the team...I've been away for a bit and didn't make any spring matches due to coaching around the country but how does this team look for 2015? I know others will be great, but from what I see and what I've heard from traveling around and talking to coaches etc Texas seems to be putting together a strong team this season...again. Just wondering how everyone thinks they will stack up against everyone else. We are hosting a regional this year and we know how to win in Nebraska, we've proved that over and over. It just seems like that monkey on our back now is the SEMI FINAL Monkey!
