2004 SEC Tournament Final Seedings
SEC Pct. #1 Florida 15-1 .938 #2 Tennessee 15-1 .938 #3 Arkansas 10-6 .625 #4 Alabama 10-6 .625 #5 Georgia 9-7 .562 #6 LSU 8-8 .429 #7 Auburn 6-10 .375 #8 South Carolina 5-11 .312
The 3-6 and 4-5 matchups are pretty even and should be fun to watch. LSU just beat Arkansas on Friday in Fayetteville and UGA swept Bama in Athens earlier in the season. Depending on which USC team shows up, Florida could have quite a battle as well. Don't see Auburn giving Tennessee too much trouble in the 1st round. Should be a good tournament, probably the best SEC tournament in quite some time.

I think Coach Wise has it right. In the postgame comments, she said UT is the better team and that tonights result is not the surprise, the surpise was Florida coming out of Knoxville with a win.
UT may have learned a great deal from the earlier loss. The whole team came up big, led by their 2 seniors Piantadosi & Gifford.
Keep it up Lady Vols!!

Hey, come on Zook. You afraid of UT? I am rooting for Florida to get to Sunday. Would love to see that rematch! Actually, yes, I am. This is the first time since 1991 I haven't felt we were a lock to win the tourney. Even in 1997 I thought we'd cruise, I still don't know how we got beat that year. Tennessee is very strong this year, I give full props to Coach Patrick and hopefully he can keep the Vols on top because the SEC needs more recognition that what it receives.

Arkansas advances 30-22, 30-21, 30-27 over LSU.
It's Tennessee vs Arkansas in Round 2 Tomorrow.
Alabama Georgia up next for the right to play Florida tomorrow (if Fla rebounds from the UT loss and beats South Carolina!)

Alabama Georgia up next for the right to play Florida tomorrow (if Fla rebounds from the UT loss and beats South Carolina!) Arkansas actually won in 5, as LSU came back to win games 3 and 4. That was a great match. The UGA-Bama match was fantastic. Oquendo was a woman possessed. Not looking forward to seeing her for the 3rd time tomorrow. If she had any kind of help, UGA would be a real force. Petruschke is just too inconsistent. Florida-USC was rather one sided. Tomorrow should be a fun day of volleyball.

Wow, what a tournament! Of course I am happy that UT won it all, but there was some big time volleyball on display and some very thrilling matches. I posted this note on the Tourney selection discussion, but it may get buried there and I want to highlight it here as an SEC discussion: *********** The SEC should have 3 or 4 teams in this year. They have the 3rd highest RKPI league rank. Tennessee is the automatic qualifier as tourney champs and Florida will get an at large bid. There were 4 other SEC teams hovering in the RKPI 20's and 30's last week: Alabama 27, Georgia 36, Arkansas 39 and LSU 40. Georgia beat Alabama and lost to Florida in a 5 game thriller. Arkansas beat LSU and lost to Tennesee. I would expect that both Georgia and Arkansas numbers improve. Also, Georgia has another shot when they play Georgia Tech (RKPI= 16) Tuesday. It will also be very interesting to see how high a seed Tennessee gets for the NCAA Tourney. Their RKPI was 8 and they just beat Florida (#4) for a 2nd time at Florida. I doubt the other polls (AVCA/ Rich Kern/Pablo) will give UT much credit. Go Vols!!

Four teams from the SEC should get in but they won't. It's sad, really.

The SEC should have 3 or 4 teams in this year. Right or wrong but it's not going to happen. UT and UF only.
