Arkansas got an at large bid last year with an RPI around 35. Georgia will be higher than that, especially if they can beat Ga Tech tomorrow. Arkansas and Alabama will be close.
Last year the top 4 RPI conferences all had 6 or 7 teams in. the SEC is ranked 3rd this year, so there is no reason to keep all of those teams out.

The SEC is really going to be an interesting test case on how much the committee truly values the RPI. Based on RPI alone, 6 SEC teams should be in no question (the at large cutoff strictly going by RPI is usually about 50).
However, the RPI does overrank the SEC this year and the SEC has not traditionally been highly regarded nationally, so from that perspective, it might be a stretch to expect any more than 2 teams.
Looking at the profiles of the SEC bubble teams, it's pretty hard to differentiate one from the next, which is going to make it even harder on the committee. If they want to take somewhere between 2 and 6 teams, which do you choose and which do you leave out?
Alabama (20-8, 10-6) RPI: 27 Good Wins: NONE Bad Losses: NONE Against The Bubble*: 3-6 MONTANA ST (W 3-0) at UT-Arlington (W 3-1) vs. Pittsburgh (L 3-2) at Georgia (L 3-0) LSU (W 3-0) ARKANSAS (L 3-1) at Arkansas (L 3-0) at LSU (L 3-1) vs. Georgia (L 3-2)
Arkansas (16-14, 10-6) RPI: 39 Good Wins: NONE Bad Losses: at South Carolina (3-0) Against The Bubble*: 8-5 KANSAS (L 3-1) vs. Pacific (W 3-2) vs. Michigan State (L 3-1) BALL STATE (L 3-0) GEORGIA (W 3-0) at Alabama (W 3-1) at Georgia (L 3-2) VALPARAISO (W 3-2) at LSU (W 3-0) ALABAMA (W 3-0) LSU (L 3-1) SW MISSOURI STATE (W 3-2) vs. LSU (W 3-2)
Georgia (18-10, 9-7) RPI: 36 Good Wins: NONE Bad Losses: at Ole Miss (3-2) Against The Bubble*: 5-3 COLL. OF CHARLESTON (W 3-1) at Pepperdine (L 3-1) at LSU (L 3-0) at Arkansas (L 3-0) ALABAMA (W 3-0) ARKANSAS (W 3-2) LSU (W 3-0) vs. Alabama (W 3-2)
LSU (16-11, 8-8) RPI: 40 Good Wins: RICE (3-2) Bad Losses: MISS. STATE (3-2), OLE MISS (3-2) Against The Bubble*: 5-4 vs. Miami-FL (W 3-2) vs. UW-Milwaukee (W 3-0) GEORGIA (W 3-0) at Alabama (L 3-0) at Georgia (L 3-0) ARKANSAS (L 3-0) ALABAMA (W 3-1) at Arkansas (W 3-1) vs. Arkansas (L 3-2)
* (Teams ineligible due to losing overall record or already qualified as conference champion with RPI in the bubble range are also included. )

Thanks Anonymous55! Well done, and I certainly agree that those 4 SEC teams have a hard case to prove they belong in. I thought Tennessee was robbed last year, and probably would have been the 3rd SEC team in, except they had a bad loss @ KY near the end of the season.
If the RPI has enough weight, several will get in this year.
My big question is about getting 6 and 7 teams deep in these other conferences. Are the 3rd and 4th place SEC teams really not better than the 6th and 7th place team in the big ten? I doubt it.
I can't wait to see the new RPI's this week. Also, would love to see Georgia take out Ga Tech tomorrow!! That will boost the SEC credentials. After losing to Florida in the tourney after serving for match point 4 times, Georgia must be ready unleash on someone.
Go Vols (& SEC)!

Arkansas (15-14, 10-6) RPI: 39 Actually AR is 16-14 (not 15-14) plus 2 games left so the may finish 18-14 but I’m not sure it would be enough. For a Big10 or Pac10 team - yes but in SEC? Need to see it in order to believe it - reference 2002 when AR got screwed being 27-6.

Here are todays updated RPI:
#5 Florida #7 Tennessee #32 Alabama (down from 27) #33 Georgia (up from 36) #37 Arkansas (up from 39) #50 LSU (Down from 40)
I think it is safe to exclude LSU and maybe 16-14 Arkansas, but how can Alabama and Georgia miss? Georgia has (now #19) Ga Tech Tuesday and can make a very bold statement with a W, while Alabama has 2 easier games remaining and could be 22-8 in the 3rd best conference.
Look at some other RPIs:
UCLA 29 Cal 35 Michigan 36 Purdue 46 Mich State 58
It's time SEC gets some credit I think 4 should be in with Arkansas on the bubble.
It's funny that I never used to get this excited about college tournaments until March!
Go Vols!

Yes, I think the SEC deserves 5 teams, thus Alabama, Georgia and Arkansas all get in. But Alabama and Georgia have stronger cases with overall records and RPI numbers.
If the SEC only gets 4, Arkansas is probably the odd team out. Unfortunately, the SEC has not had much luck getting more than 2 teams in so that puts Alabama & Georgia back on the bubble.
Hopefully, Tennessee's top 10 ranking and the overall strong conference RPI has given the SEC enough attention to boost SEC bids to 4 or 5!

I feel the SEC is a much better conference than they get credit for. It just shows having two teams in the top 20 and other teams just missing, that there is some talent there that is not being noticed. Tennessee didn't even make the NCAA's last year and now they are ranked in the top ten? I think that is enough to support my thoughts that the SEC is a much better conference than what they get credit for. I think Georgia should be in the NCAA's this year. They took FLA to 5 games and play really well as a team. I must admit, I think they could get past a first round if given the chance!!!!

1. If the SEC only gets 4, Arkansas is probably the odd team out. Unfortunately, the SEC has not had much luck getting more than 2 teams in so that puts Alabama & Georgia back on the bubble. Both AL and GA have played much weaker schedules than Arkansas, so nothing strange their overall record is better. Head to head AR beat Bama twice and split with GA: a 3-0 win and a 2-3 loss, so a better game ratio. My point is we never know with NCAA at large selections and I don’t think SEC is committee’s favorite conference. I wouldn’t mind if my foreseeing turns out wrong.

Most of the bid speculation being posted in a couple other threads have Georgia & Alabama IN. Most have Arkansas IN as well. volleytalk.proboards35.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1100586766&start=45I was thinking Georgia needed a win tonight, but, their credentials are plenty strong without tonights Ga Tech match. Eh, go ahead and beat 'em anyway Dawgs! That alone could raise the Arkansas RPI enough to make them a lock for an at-large bid. Let's get 5 SEC schools in and have a great December run!

It would have been nice if VT rankings/selections were among the eligible criteria. ;D

I might have interpreted what you said wrong, but they already announced all conference and POY.
