I don't know who dumped who, but I am pretty sure they were done before Kessy and Day were rumored, but I could be wrong there too.
Summer Ross just seems real blah to me. She has great talent, but IMHO it just never looks like she plays hard.

Emily was the main driver of the decision to split up, and at the time she had no idea Jen Kessy would eventually come calling.

Was their a specific reason? I would have thought with as young as Ross was, and all her potential (as well as Emily in both), they could have been USA's next big team after Rio. Don't follow women's as much, but have heard so much about this young up and comer in Summer, and had absolutely no idea who Emily Day was.
I guess assuming Kessy came to Emily and not Summer maybe tells me Emily has been the better player of the 2, which would surpise me a little I guess.

In watching Summer and Emily play together several times both in person and on replays, it seemed pretty clear to me - there was a ton of hype and support in the crowd for Summer (even in non-Cali places like Cinci and Milwaukee), but Emily was/is obviously the better all-around player.

Carambula was originally intended as a short-term replacement for an injured Caminati, but it will be interesting to see how that situation plays out. Hearing Walsh is unlikely to play St. Pete. Also heard Carico/DiCello are done, and a couple of other or partnerships are on very shaky ground on the women's side. I think there will be some switch ups in the Carico/S. Ross/Fopma/Hochevar/McGuire etc group in the not too distant future. Looks like Carambula and Ranghieri will be together the rest of the season. Ranghieri stayed in Europe for the European games but Carmabula couldn't play because he didn't have enough points. Looks like they will be together Gstaad and beyond. www.cev.lu/News.aspx?NewsID=20599&TagType=0&TagContent=0&ID=0&Paging=0&Sd=1/1/1900&Ed=1/1/1900

Not quite the same story I heard in terms of who was supposed to partner with who, but Ranghieri obviously knows a hell of a lot more about it than I do. He's turning into to a heck of a player, IMO - In Porec he almost single handedly destroyed a good Nummedor/Varenhorst team in the third game of the bronze match and dominated Ricardo in an earlier match. Fun player to watch.
