I plan to go to the FIVB tournament, but I don't know this area. How is the parking and the location there. Is it hard to get to? Is there enough parking?

That is where the AVP tournament was last year. There wasn't a ton of parking for AVP, so I would guess for FIVB it is going to be more difficult. Locals might know better, but didn't seem to be good hotel options around there either.

If you want to be walking distance from the event, Downtown St. Pete has a few really nice hotels like Vinoy Rennaissance, Birchwood that are a professional baseball player's throw from the event. There is a Hampton Inn and Hilton Bayfront close by as well. Indigo is a cool niche hotel (a little farther west but easy walk). Best bet is a collection of bed and breakfast hotels off the beaten path but right there in the mix and easy walking distance. We stayed at the Water Garden Inn at the Bay B&B the last two years for the AVP events - perfect location. Big old house with a really nice pool and right there...staying on the beach (Post Card Inn etc.) is ok but that's a 20 minute drive daily minimum not counting traffic on/off beach...DT St. Pete has a vibrant night life with a multitude of bars/restaurants all right there...location seems odd but it works - surrounded by water views everywhere...

For nightlife you're probably better off crossing the Howard Franklin and going to Channel Side...

The Vinoy is hands down the nicest hotel down there. Anyone know about ponce de Leon? Btw, I love going to tournaments in downtown at Pete. Great area for food, shops and fun!!! I'm excited!!!

It's going to be very humid and let's hope no tropical systems come through that week
