We had great Laola1.tv live streams on the first day now we have the crappy AVP Periscope that doesn't have a score, is much lower resolution, only shows one court and 25% of the screen is covered by the sinage they're resting the camera against? Really? It's 2015. I think we gotta assume most people don't know how to inject custom CSS. so I'm adding the bad rotation to the list as well. Nothing gets me quite riled up like horrible live streams of volleyball.

You could get better quality from a guy with a $100 webcam sitting courtside with a laptop than this(I guess it could be bandwidth issues, but still). This is just one of many complaints I have regarding video and volleyball. Even earlier this year with FIVB on Laola, you could rarely get previous streams besides like semi-finals. If it's in moscow and you aren't staying up until 2 AM, you aren't seeing matches you may want to see. I even signed up for the laola premium at one time cause it mentioned DVR features, but that was only while the event was still live. You couldn't go back and watch something that had already ended. The whole thing is just a big joke. MMA nearly died at one time when it was more or less banned in the US, but you could regularly find video streams of the events in Japan floating around online and you could always download full events afterwards. It's so hard to find regular beach volleyball events online besides here and there on youtube and then it's only certain matches.

Looking back at the talks about how the FIVB allows the area promoters to handle the tournament, is this on the AVP? Whether it's through their contract with the local network to show the final or whatever, is this the AVP and not FIVB? I cannot believe the stream we are given for an FIVB event. It's absolutely embarrassing, and people watching the American event from other countries must be laughing.

April Ross/Pavlik just lost in 3 to Argentina. Spain vs Germany(Men's) coming up next on the stream.
Or not....seems the stream is down. Maybe they are only doing US matches? Who knows.

Great way to start off this new "partnership"

Compare that to the crystal clear product the NVL put out from the Ocean City event. Why can they do it and the AVP cant? This should be a top priority if they want to leverage their base. I watched more of the NVL than I did New Orleans just because I could actually see and follow the play.

Interesting question. I think a big part of it is she isn't playing with Chen Xue (arguably the best player in the world at the time), and the two events they won were against weak fields. Xinya isn't playing behind Xue's massive block any more, and now is blocking herself with a smaller partner. The current Xinya/Ma partnership doesn't seem to be working out at all. What happened to Xue is another questuion. Did she just get old? Injured? (Stuck with Xinya?) Or could it be because Xi stopped playing? Went down with an injury in the first event of the season and hasn't been seen since. I don't the specifics of the injury, though.

Looks like other info coming out of FIVB Today: Doherty-Mayer are replacing Dalhausser-Rosenthal at World Championships this year.

ROsie isn't doing very well with Slick, maybe he's just lost his edge or what. I believe when he went down Phil won a n FIVB tournament with Jennings. Couldn't have been a more disappointing start to the season for both those two individually and as a team.
I guess the bigger question is, how hard is it going to be for them to qualify for the Olympics, or how does that process work?

Wish the would stream it like the NVL does.
Tourney setup is nice and not many medical timeouts taken as of yet -may change tomorrow...

Bad day at the office for Ross/Pavlik. And that's a surprise?? In 2013 when Pavlik played with a healthy Walsh-Jennings, she continually got stomped by Day/Ross (yes, I am aware she managed to win the MB Open that year).

I'm a little surprised, yeah - given the quality of the teams they played today, I would have expected a split at minimum. And watching April/Pav train last week, Whitney looked really good. But practice sessions don't count in the standings, of course. They're up against it tomorrow against a very solid Spanish team. They could very well end up doing the FIVB version of 1, 2, BBQ (1, 2, 3, bring some beers to me?)
