All tournament for 17s open, just in case you wanted to know: L to R, Front to back: Taylor Horsfall, Justine Spann, Ashlynn Dunbar, Caitlyn Cooper (MVP), Alexis Hart, Ashley Brown, Tess Reid Jenna Gray, Ashlyn Fleming, Darielle King, Audriana Fizmorris, Lauren Stivrins and Khalia Lanier (np: Catherine Cronister and Meghan Donovan) Are any of these girls uncommited?

Iosia played really well all tournament long. She set well on the 6-2 and was LB best player. I think she would have shined even more if the team was not loaded with so many good players. Who are Mizunos players. I only know of Muno, Yaz, and Norene and where they're going. Who else is going to a d1 college for them? Most of them, I think. Welsh and Stokes going to LSU, Mason to Arizona, Byrne to Notre Dame, Kyra Smith to Fullerton (I think). There's a couple of others I can't remember at the moment.

Made All Tournament, so shined pretty bright apparently She did shine very brightly and I am a huge Iosia fan and have touted her as the best setter in her class. The best setter in the 18-Open, however, was Jordyn Poulter. Since Front Range got bounced by Laguna in a fantastic match in the quarterfinals, perhaps others aren't talking about her as much, but there is NO QUESTION about whether or not Jordyn will start on day one for the Fighting Illini. Simply ridiculous how talented she is. Continued best wishes to Norene. She's fantastic and deserves all accolades.

I'm happy for Norene, but I would give the nod to Kylie Miller as the best setter in 2016. Ironically, Kylie wasn't setting in Forza1 match vs Laguna when I had a chance to watch. She can also pass and hit, plays amazing defense, and is a better blocker than NI imo. I also like Gray, the Invasion setter headed to Stanford. Of course, I'm only including the setters I've seen play.

Rumor has it that she may try being a LS hitter this year but she may be too valuable in the middle.

Very athletic hops, with a strong arm. But she is short and won't be able to overpower opponents in the PAC. It will be interesting to see if she ends up playing OH in the PAC. Love Justine, but I think she may end up a libero. OTOH, I never thought 6' JT Hatch could be an OH at UCLA in the MPSF. He ended up FOY. So, here's hoping I'm wrong again. I like the comparison but I would argue JT is a smarter player and sided out on the 18 Open level against a very large block consistently. Spann didn't against an average AVA block. I don't know what Colorado will do with her but I think she will be fine. She is a great kid and I wish her all the best. Being from the AZ region and having played storm many many times now I was really pulling for them to get the three peat and MAYBE then the four peat. I do not think they can win 18s now due to a future Kathryn Plummer team. Let's not forget TAV was not at full health this nationals. We will see, it will be interesting! All they had to do was either set khalia in the back or stivrins on the famous 10 ball and boom side out.

They won largely because of their ability to block both pins, slow the middle, and funnel to the backrow with positioning the block Properly.

I only saw the final match, but I thought AVA was pretty good. I would say they won largely because Khalia rotated to the back row and the setter failed to spread the ball the last 5 points.

Give credit where credit is due. Storm had their chances but was never in control of the match and Lanier was far from as dominating as you're suggesting. As has seemed her tendency lately, she got blocked several times and went to tipping and rolling which AVA ate up.

How did Darielle King play? (Obviously well to make the all tourney team). Was just curious how she stacked up against the other top middles.
