Carambula/Ranghieri are no longer registered. Now it's the second time they miss out on an important event in the US, Adrian apparently has "some visa issues", anybody knows more about it?

So Adrian knew the penalty he faced if he left, chose to leave anyway, and wants people to pay so that he, who made around 100k this year, doesn't have to foot the bill for an attorney to try to avoid the consequences of his actions?

My recollection is that he applied for a visa but the US would not get around to it in time for him to qualify for the Olympics so he chose Italy because his grandmother lives there and he was able to play for them instead.
Not sure why he cannot be granted a sports visa so he can compete here. Criteria typically needed are
Evidence of having participated in international competition with a national team; Evidence of having participated to a significant extent in a prior season for a U.S. college or university in intercollegiate competition; A written statement from an official of the governing body of the sport which details how the alien or team is internationally recognized; A written statement from a member of the sports media or a recognized expert in the sport which details how the alien or team is internationally recognized; Evidence that the individual or team is ranked if the sport has international rankings; or Evidence that the alien or team has received a significant honor or award in the sport
It does not appear that he is looking to become a permanent resident, just to compete. Given how popular he was in the Olympics, why can't FIVB or AVP sponsor him to get one? He certainly qualifies for all of the above, he just needs a hearing it looks like

The GoFundMe writeup is a little, I dunno, dodgy maybe? Right off the bat, it says that Carambula was allowed to stay in the US under the Dream Act. Except the Dream Act does not exist - it's been proposed, but never passed by Congress. But it sure sounds cool. Looks like they've got a nice start on raising the $10,000, which is nice, I guess. As for me - and this will probably sound churlish - I wouldn't give the guy a nickel.

I'm starting a Go Fund Me, I'd like to travel around and watch some beach volleyball tournaments but don't really want to shell out money for it….I have a couple of bunions I'd liked to have removed as well….who wants to start the donations at say $50?

Geddy, you're right about the DREAM act. I think the GoFundMe creator (who is probably not an immigration expert) was referring to DACA. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deferred_Action_for_Childhood_ArrivalsBucky, I don't think he had any intentions of playing for the USA since he is not a US citizen. It appears once he got his Italian passport through his grandfather, he grabbed the chance to play for Italy. But, he needed to travel outside of the USA (on the FIVB circuit) to qualify for the Olympics (representing Italy). I'm assuming what he was trying to do was to make sure he can travel back to the USA once he leaves (or self deports). Having overstayed in the USA as undocumented since he was young results to a 10 year travel ban to the US. He needs a very competent immigration attorney to handle his case if he wants an entry waiver from the 10 year travel ban.
