the NCAA seeding committee in the past has been accused of not being in touch with the intangibles when it came to seeding teams. As far as selection of teams, they use the RPI currently, however in the past they used the regional rankings for selection as well as the RPI and poll. The knock on the committee was that many of the members were more administration types who never even played the game. Although in the past a few administrators turned committee member actually came from athletics either as coaches, players, directors or any combination of the three. For the rest of the committee, they did not have much desire to make it even as much as it was to make it efficient. Since 911, other factors were incorporated surrounding budget. add to that the possible involvement of power conference representation. I guess having a couple of teams upset will be inevitable.

Would Hawaii be better served to be independent in volleyball and have four tourney to start season I think so, but can Hawaii get enough people to schedule them in the middle of their conference season? And who is going TO Hawaii in the middle of the season?

West Coast teams probably would. Especially if they could travel together. UH should apply for Pac12 volleyball membership. How hard could that be? Actually, the Big West should be better than it's been.

This makes more sense now... even if we start out in the middle of Pac 12 pack, UH will make $$ and will eventually attract the talent to compete regularly with the BCS monsters. Agree!!!

Hawaii does not meet PAC-12 academic standards.

Hawaii should be in the WCC, which would be a much better competitive fit. If LBSU went with them, a 12-team WCC could play a 20-match schedule, skipping two. With LBSU, BYU, San Diego, LMU, Pepperdine, Santa Clara on the schedule, that could help fix Hawaii's R.P.I. issues.

Go ahead and highlight BYU in green, as the AQ from the WCC after a 3-1 win over Pepperdine tonight.

Hawaii does not meet PAC-12 academic standards. Hawai'i most certainly meet PAc12 Academic standards. www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2015#sorting=rank+region=+country=257+faculty=+stars=false+search= UH World rank 327. Above WSU 361, Utah 369, Colorado 411-420, OSU 431-440, Oregon 501-550 www.shanghairanking.com/ARWU2015.html UH 151-200 Oregon, WSU, OSU, Colorado 301-400 www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/2016/world-ranking#!/page/8/length/25 UH 201-250. Higher than Oregon, OSU, WSU, Colorado. Hawai'i, who doesn't have the boost of the big money from a power conference, can compete and beat some of the best. The elitist attitude is so tired. The fact is, UH is a top tier public research school that would fall somewhere in the middle of the Pac12 schools academically.

Hawaii will not go to the Pac-12....ever...there is simply NO reason for the Pac-12 to add Hawaii so it won't happen....it's not academics, it's media/money as much if not more
and Hawaii will not go to the WCC, nor Long Beach....ever....the WCC won't add public universities
it's make-believe
the only other conference Hawaii would ever switch to practically would be to the Mountain West
these Pac-12/WCC scenarios are simply silly...they ain't gonna happen.....ever

West Coast teams probably would. Especially if they could travel together. UH should apply for Pac12 volleyball membership. How hard could that be? Actually, the Big West should be better than it's been. Hawaii should try to join the Big XII for volleyball. Since Oklahoma State doesn't play volleyball, the Big XII could use a 10th volleyball member. Travel would suck, but it already sucks. Of course the downside would be that Hawaii would have to find another conference for all their other teams, since the Big West would likely boot them out of their conference.

The Big West is the perfect conference for the Wahine but the conference as a whole needs to get a lot better. This was a down year for the conference but there is a reason for optimism for the future.

Here is how I am seeing the bracket as of now. This has the maximum # of drive-ins - although there are probably another 100 other ways to have the same number of drive-ins. If these are the 16 hosts, then there will be more flying this year than last. Last 4 in - TCU, Oregon, Villanova, Boise State, Last 4 out - Long Beach State, Wyoming, Arkansas, Michigan State. RP Index as I see it ending the season in parenthesis.
San Diego 1) USC (2): Loyola Marymount (29), UNCW (60), Northern Arizona (34), Furman (95) 16) BYU (13): Hawaii (26), Boise State (46), American (70) 8) Florida (5): North Carolina (21), Miami (42), UNCW (60), Coastal Carolina (85) 9) UCLA (11): San Diego (25), Northern Arizona (34), North Carolina (21), New Mexico State (68) Lexington 4) Wisconsin (4): Arizona (44), Marquette (37), Fairfield (174) 13) Louisville (16): Kentucky (18), Western Kentucky (17), Belmont (178) 5) Washington (6): Michigan (30), Lipscomb (54), Harvard (145) 12) Kansas (9): Purdue (32), Arizona State (35), Missouri State (39) Des Moines 3) Minnesota (3): Iowa State (24), Creighton (19), New Hampshire (154) 14) Missouri (14): Illinois (23), Arkansas State (20), Southern Illinois (38) 6) Nebraska (7): Wichita State (33), Kansas State (41), Denver (84) 11) Stanford (12): Colorado State (28), Santa Clara (36), Howard (226) Austin 2) Texas (1): SMU (31), Oregon (50), Jackson State (313) 15) Ohio State (15): Dayton (27), Ohio (53), Cleveland State (74) 7) Penn State (8): Pittsburgh (43), Villanova (45), Robert Morris (209) 10) Texas A&M (10): Florida State (22), TCU (48), Texas A&M Corpus Christi (72)
