Penn State is done. Ain't no Fawcetts, Hodges, Harmottos or Glasses in the pipeline. By those standards, we should have been "done" 6 years ago, the last year that any of those 4 played was 2009. Dale Flickinger

That expiration date comes a lot quicker if you don't keep up in recruiting. I though Salima was supposed to be one of the best recruiters out there. Time for her to earn her money and her Associate Head Coach title. Yall just had a recruiting class with three top ten recruits the number one and two recruits, and two more in the top 20, (believe reed was top 20) and youre complaining about recruiting. The 2016 and 2017 recruits were mostly gone by the time Salima returned. Also, I suspect that it was hard to reruit with the all of 2014 class already here. PSU has only had 2 non-final 4s in 9 years. Let's see what happens in the next 2-3 years.

What, reject the growing wave of VT wisdom consigning Penn State to the nether regions of the B1G from here on out? Are you daft, man? Have you taken leave of your senses?

Rose previously has had good success with walk-on DSs until recently. Considering both Lacey and Kendall had 3 Final 4's, 2 National Championships and a B1G title under there belt and were both first players off the bench for Ds roles, I would say they were success .....lately. Furthemore, by your definition I would say Penn State continues to have great success with DS's in the likes of Maggie Harding and Lara Caraway too. Sorry , but I've read way too many careless posts today from people. I'm on your side here and wasn't trying to slight anyone in this thread. I've got thick skin so fire away.

PSU will be 9 DS/L 10 if you include Rivera for 2016. They would have been at 9 had this year too if 2 hadn't flaked. Ultimately they ended at 7 for the season and 6 at NCAA time due to injury. I really feel like Rivera will give Weiskircher a run for her money at the setter position next season. Coach said that in the preseason he felt Rivera would be the starter in 2015. Setting is key to getting back to the final four, IMO. Also, if we have a solid libero and consistent tough serving next season, we should be in the mix again.

Dale Flickinger OK then. Ain't no Hancocks, McClendons, Slays or Grants in the pipeline. Ain't no Whitneys or Courtneys either. Novakovic, Gorrell, Demure? I don't think so.

Graduating: Whitney, Courtney, K. Pierce, Caraway Returning (with playing time this season): Frantti, Washington, Weiskircher, Lee, Thalen, Holcomb, Rivera, L. Pierce, Reed, Krause, Muller Incoming: Kendall White (L), several DSs, and Emily Demure (RS, OH, S) Some big questions for next season for PSU. Will the team find a strong 6-rotation player to replace Courtney, who RR often said (predominantly earlier in the season) was the team's top all-around player)? Will pin hitting become a relative weakness for the team? How much growth can the 2014 freshmen see in the offseason? Is this season more like 2011 (also a loss in the regional semis before 3 final fours & 2 national titles) or 2000 (the first of 7 consecutive years without a final four appearance)? Answers to your questions...No way. Yes. Little. Yes.

The players at Penn State have to look at themselves, and find more intensity for next season, work on blocking, and WANT to bring the program to a higher level than it was this year. Is Weiskircher someone who can learn from this past season, and correct the predictability of her serves?
No one was more dead than USC coming into this season, and the players themselves, along with Mick, changed what they were doing. Penn State needs to do the same thing.
I assume Russ Rose is also bothered by what happened.

The best thing PSU's 2016 team has going for it is that expectations are low--particularly from PSU fans. Maybe lower expectations will cause less stress which might help the players?

If she wasn't pretty darn good, what does that say about the rest of the players in the conference (which, last I checked, includes two teams from this year's final four, including the champion)? Did you mean sets? (I still wouldn't agree that was necessarily her problem -- that thing called passing -- but at least that would make more sense)

And watch Penn St run off 6 titles in a row from here. The team is just dangerous during the tournament even if they are the last team in.

Plenty of questions for Penn State but one thing that is constant is Russ Rose. He has signed a five year extension to coach there.
