Can someone remind me again how Adrian Skyball Carambula is competing for Italy?!?! Or how the best young American player is now playing for Italy? (Maybe an exaggeration, but only Bourne can claim anything like the success Adrian has had internationally) He's not American.

Phil looks great. 5 blocks a couple of aces, very active chasing down digs. Nick missed in the net a bunch but he was swinging aggressively which is nice to see. He kept the Brazilians from sitting on his shots. US up in game 1

Nice win for Nick and Phil. I thought Nick played so-so but I really liked the way he played in terms of his attitude, etc.
Some things looked improved over last year, Phil being more willing to go on 2, Nick swinging aggressively (although he did only hit one ball hard down the line the whole match)
Assuming it will be Evandro tomorrow and I am eager to see that match

Time to lodge my annual complaint about the how insanely stupid it is that the few remaining beach volleyball fans in the U.S. can't watch these matches live unless they have an illegal internet connection.

I used the youtube link posted in this thread. Worked pretty well Says "The uploader has not made this video available in your country" when I click the link. Sounds like an exciting final going on right now with our likely Olympic team going up against the #1 team in the world. Why would anyone want to watch the match live?

First game was pretty good. Late surge by Brazil made it look closer than it was. Nick/Phil just playing awful in game 2 and Evandro has the jumper going. This may be just the way the camera is set up but it really looks like Evandro is foot faulting or coming close a lot.
Either way he is a monster at the service line. I also like how half the time Pedro passes he takes his first two steps like he is going to hit on two.
Nick is much more tentative here than in the semi. Both guys giving Evandro's block way too much respect

Sure but if he wanted to he could have played for the US couldnt he? Nope. How did he live in the US that long without a green card? I thought it was just an issue of him not naturalizing for whatever reason

Phil has to figure out his serve. Both in the semi and here it has been awful. Nick also seems to miss a couple a game and he is mostly jump floating. Nick hasn't dug anything.

In two games Evandro has rolled maybe one ball. Yet Nick is always moving when the ball gets to him. US loses game 2 21-19 (wasnt that close) but Nick has to contribute something. His siding out is ok, but its a lot of pressure on Phil to basically ask him to beat the 2nd team in the world with his partner scoring 0 points.

Back to back jump floaters out of bounds to start Game 3. Phil and Nick finally get one win and score off Pedro. Nick them blows a very easy dig on the next play. Brazil's sideout play is not great. Pedro follows his serve in an roofs Phil.
It worked but I dont understand that strategy at all since Evandro is garbage on defense and Nick is visibly scared of his block. Every time Pedro is at the net Nick just rolls it anywhere and it usually goes down
