Was really hoping for the young Brazilians to make the semis so I could see them. Interesting draw on the men's side though. Adrian took down a big team. Lots of changing of the guard indicators so far this year

As much crap as Sean/Theo have gotten from this group - we should commend them for their (thus far) bounce back success. Two quality wins. Those are two good wins but success? Sean was one half of the best team in the world less than two years ago. Lets see a 5th before we say they have succeeded at anything. With his talent, he should have conquered the world....wish someone would have guided him better in his "life choices"...

Really interesting final. April played about as badly as I have seen her and it was still a coin flip match. Very encouraging to see how often Kerri was swinging.
April needs to be a little more mobile on defense. Its early season, so this will probably improve but too often she seemed flatfooted and missed gettable balls. Still amazing how well Kerri gets off the net to play defense.
After this match, even though they lost and Talita looked very strong at the net, I'd happily bet on Kerri and April to win the Gold and be the best team on tour this year.

Kudos to Kerri and April who are off to a great start!, despite today's setback. Check out this recap of the finals.

Sounds like they had a pretty good lead in the first set that evaporated. This one will stick with Kerri awhile. All in all a good start of the season for WalRoss!

They choked the first game away pretty badly. They were up 16-12 and even after the Brazilians caught up, all they needed to win was a sideout. For some reason April was jump floating 100% of the time.

Kerri said recently that she hopes to soon regroup with Michael Gervais whose sports psychology guidance will help both her and April. Both she and Misty were boosted from his support in the run-up to the London Games. ---- Looking ahead to Rio, all teams will need to battle the home sand advantage the Brazilians will enjoy.

There was an article in Volleyball Magazine where he said his first time training in a gym was when he teamed with Jake (well into his pro career)

And if that was what was meant, why not say that?

I watched both the Medal men's matches. The level of the jump floater is insane, that is a real weapon out there. scoring from the baseline is becoming crazy important. I enjoyed watching a couple teams I hadn't seen play before.

I enjoyed watching a couple teams I hadn't seen play before. That being said...I wonder if any of you who use a jump floater can educate me on why you think it is so much more effective than just knowing the winds well and hitting a normal floater. Personally, I have never tried it. It just seems like it adds much more complexity to a simple motion and increases the margin for several different errors (i.e. miscontacts, wind shift, foot faults etc). Is the risk/reward of using it that significant? Since I never have, Im not sure of the benefits and hope those who do can convince me to try it out there. I just dont see how jumping into a float serve gives it more movement but it wouldnt be the first time I have learned something by asking. Thanks
