Colorado State(who will be quite good next year), is the host. Generally, they'll invite the defending National Champ and who knows who else. I wouldn't be surprised to see USC and Florida back in it, maybe with a Big 10 team or a Big 12 team. Well based upon the NACWA "double talk'" of several years ago, they are NOT supposed to just presuppose who will be invited, including the previous National Champions!!! They were trying to "move it around" and "expose heretofore new teams, universities, and programs" to this wonderful event! My bet, however, is that they invite the snobs from U$C though!

They could split the distance and meet in Minnesota for an early season tournament! ((* During a time of year when it is sweltering in the un-air-conditioned Pavilion and not hovering in the single digits temperature wise. *))Florida will be in Minnesota next year, a tournament with UMinn, KState and UNI, should be a good one. UCSB opens their season at Florida next year.

Is the info on the MN tourney for sure or an educated guess? Florida, KSU, UNI and MN in a pre-season tourney; I'll buy tickets now!

NACWAA loves women coaches. The lineup? USC (defending champion ...I think.) Colorado State (host) Washington State (female coach) Texas A&M (female coach) Alternates: Pepperdine or UCSB. Not Florida, Hawaii, and Minnesota. They were in recent NACWAA's, although no rule excludes them, per se. They won't have two Pac10 schools.

From Mary's chat a few weeks ago [hmr] What are some of the big non-conference opponents you have lined up for the future? Coach Wise: We have to return to Minnesota next year where we'll see K State and Northern Iowa. And we get UCSB at home.

They won't have two Pac10 schools. And I thought they didn't take teams in back-2-back years which would eliminate SoCal. But they usually take the returning Nat'l Champion... which will it be?

They won't have two Pac10 schools. Ahh yes, I forgot about that unwritten rule. I was going for female coaches. Then the lineup may be: USC Colorado State Texas A&M Notre Dame Or, they could invite some east coast team like Duke (I think they have a female coach?), Miami, Clemson (female coach, I think?), and an Ivy like Columbia or Penn. Or they could stick to the tried-and-true Florida, USC, Colorado State, and Nebraska. Georgia Tech would be a good selection except they lose their setter Evelend.

USC and Colorado State will be 2 of the four. I sincerely hope it's not the other teams that Wolfgang threw in there, Talk about a lame tournament.

I think a lot of people thought the 2002 tourney was gonna be lame, but it turned out those 4 teams were pretty damn good(Minnesota, Stanford, UNI, Pepperdine).

It outta be Minnesota and Florida They are already scheduled to play next year, doubt they'll put them in a tourney where they could potentially meet up again, or they might, who knows. I'd love to see Florida there again, but don't think they'll get the invite. I think we'll see Penn State and Nebraska, along with USC and CSU

You gotta have at least one team with a female coach. I haven't checked all past NACWAA participants but it also seems to be another unwritten rule. NACWAA=national association of women athletics administrators (or "tion") It's a chick organization.

1995
Nebraska (Host) Stanford (Champion) Cal State Northridge Penn State
1996
Illinois State (Host) Hawaii (Champion) University of Florida Nebraska
1997
Stanford (Host) Penn State (Champion) BYU Texas A & M
1998 University of New Mexico (Host) Long Beach State (Champion) Southern Cal Wisconsin
1999
Nebraska (Host) University of the Pacific (Champion) Penn State University of Florida
2000
University of Florida (Host) Colorado State (Champion) UCLA Penn State
2001
University of the Pacific (Host) University of Hawaii University of Nebraska(Champion) University of Wisconsin
2002 University of Minnesota(host) Stanford University(Champion) University of Northern Iowa Pepperdine University
Looks like a few times there were no female coaches, but I could be wrong. 1995, no female coaches. Who coached New Mexico in 1998? Looks like every other year had at least one female coach though.

Female coached teams:
1995 - CSUN ? (dont know) 1996 - Illinois State and Florida 1997 - BYU and TAMU 1998 - New Mexico (Laurel Brassey, I think?) and USC (lisa love, or was it Jerritt Elliott?) 1999 - Florida 2000 - Florida 2001 - Pacific (but NACWAA didn't know Dunning would quite before the season started) 2002 - UNI and Pepperdine 2003 - Florida and KState
1995 is the only one I'm not sure about and we can't really count 2001 because, I believe, Pacific was invited as the host while Dunning was still the coach.
