The numbers change slightly, but the majority of the players come from the same places over the years. Colleges Hawaii Long Beach Nebraska Penn State Stanford Texas USC Washington Pretty much those Elite programs that are in the mix for Final 4s and NC's.

But apparently there is a difference between Stanford and Cal, Penn State and Ohio State. Oregon has been good for a while but despite the pleading of this board, where's Lauren Plum?

Nebraska and Penn St have 3 alumni each on the 12 woman roster of the USA Women's Volleyball Olympic Team. It is noteworthy that UConn has 5 alumni on the Women's Basketball Olympic team (Maya Moore, Diana Taurasi, Brianna Stewart, Sue Bird and Tina Charles) and 1 current Junior (Kia Nurse) on the Canadian Olympic WBB team plus the UConn WCBB coach, Geno Auriemma who is head coach. Some schools just do it better than others it appears. Did I leave any teams or schools out? Edit: Oops, maybe only 2 for Penn St since Nicole Fawcette didn't make the final 12-woman roster. One thing I don't understand is why Kelsey Robinson is considered (by many) a Nebraska player when she only spent 1 year there versus 3 years at Tennessee? Probably mostly because she's a Nebraska alum.

FWIW, every player will see court time as you need to have played in order to get a medal. I didn't know this.

Probably mostly because she's a Nebraska alum. Doesn't answer the question. My point is that she's an alumnus of Tennessee as well. Not a big deal. Someone gave me a good answer earlier in the thread.

The only purpose of this thread was to point out once again, Nebraska leads the world in all things vb.
The rest of the comments only fan the flames.

I don't believe your characterization of her as "an alumnus of Tennessee" is accurate.I looked at the definition of "alumnus" and found that my understanding of the word was not accurate. I always thought it was a synonym for "graduate", but it is broader than that and also includes "attendee".

It comes and goes. Frankly, I think the only real consistency of which schools "just do it better than others" is Stanford as they usually have at least 1 Olympian in every quad.

FWIW, every player will see court time as you need to have played in order to get a medal. I didn't know this. FYI: In track and field (and probably swimming, too), all athletes that participated in the preliminary heats of an event get the medal that the finalists receive. For example, if there are three preliminary heats plus the final of the 4x100m relay, there could be 16 gold medal winners. I don't know if there has ever been so many participants in a single event, but it's almost unheard of that only four athletes participate both the prelims and finals. In other events, the actual athletes don't get any medals at all. (equestrian)

Doesn't answer the question. My point is that she's an alumnus of Tennessee as well. I don't believe your characterization of her as "an alumnus of Tennessee" is accurate. Accurate? Hmmm. Where do we slate players like Andie Malloy or 5th year seniors who have eligibility left? Do we identify PSU with Matt Anderson even though he hasn't finished his degree there yet? Does the University identify with him? Of course and that is perfectly fine. Or in other sports the 1 and doners like Kyrie Irving (Duke), John Wall(Kentucky), Camelo Anthony(Syracuse). All those Universities most certainly identify with those players.....hell yes they do. Anthony already game the largest donation back to the school by an athlete. I guess people can write in their Bio's whatever they want if there is truth to it.
