Italy lost all of their matches and are now 0-3 in the standings.
Anyone thinks the Italians will play out of their minds to upset the Americans?

Italy could, but Egonu is too inconsistent for them to pull it off.
Meanwhile, Serbia all over China right now, they took the first set easily 25-19. Chinese block doesn't know where to go

China's loss to Serbia and Netherlands would mean they have to defeat the USA on Sunday or else be the #4 team in the pool and will have to face the winner of Russia-Brazil match in the quarterfinals.

China beating US will be a tall order. Not impossible, but I'm not losing sleep over that possibility. I'm confident the US can at least make it to the semi-final. It will be a good test for Serbia and Netherlands to see whether they can make a breakthough. China will be eliminated in the quarter-final. US meeting Brazil will be the ultimate test of course. I really want them to finally beat Brazil at the Olympics. Beijing and London were so frustrating. Can they do it against a hostile crowd and Brazil firing on all cylinders? |
