Kevin Barnett discussed this during the USA rout of Mexico. His point was that Italy has a lot of older players like Juantorena who would benefit from the rest since they've done their job and have nothing to gain at this point.
I might go halfway if I'm the Italians. They have 2 middles left, so those guys will play. Have Giannelli set, Zaytsev on the right, then go with your backup OH. I would sub liberally though if I'm Italy.

From Italy's perspective it would be beneficial to rest their older guys. Plus something about the Italians makes me think they would enjoy closing out pool play with a soft loss to Canada and a chorus of boos from the local Brazilians. NOBODY wants to play Brazil in an elimination game. However the purist volleyball fan within me says the game must be played starters vs starters and be played well. I wouldn't want to be in a situation like this as a fan or an athlete. Maybe in future olympics they will schedule the final day of pool play to take place simultaneously like how they do in British Premier league football to prevent teams from knowing results before the start of their match. This of course would be a lot of work and would require more facilities but its really the only way to avoid a situation where a team has an opportunity to effectively throw a game.

Well in a way it would because if the US and Mexico played their game at the same time as well there would be a 4 team tie for 2nd place at the start of the match. Would be much more ambiguous to the scheming Italians to figure out what kind of scenario a loss would cause.

Canada was only going to go as far as Schmitt's health could take them, and he is hurting pretty bad. Had metal rods inserted in both shins, the last one 10 months ago. I like his effort, and that he keeps his mouth shut about being hurt.
I would think the Italian coach would have some thoughts about keeping their rhythm.
I am cheering for Canada. Hopefully our middles, and Perrin play their best match yet.

They won the pool regardless of any other outcomes today.

I am just saying that playing the final day of pool play simultaneously would deter Italy from purposefully losing a game to eliminate a specific country from the pool.

Italy can't control which of France/Brazil is out...only if the loser is out, or if the loser is in a tie with Canada. Right?

Ain't going to happen. Should they do that with basketball and soccer also?

To summarize:
Italy will advance as the #1 seed no matter what happens today USA will advance The winner of Brazil/France will advance
If Canada wins vs Italy, they advance and it comes down to tiebreakers to determine the seedings. Though as Barnett said, there is minimal difference between the teams in Pool B so the matchup is going to be tough regardless.
If Canada loses to Italy, it comes down to tiebreakers with them and the Brazil/France loser.

Zaytsev sits in favor of Vettori, and Antonov teams with Buti in the middle as Piano and Biarrelli sit.
I don't think Juantorena plays the whole match but he does start.
16-14 Canada midway through the first.
