If the choices exclude those who can't be mentioned, I would have taken Hagglund. Our defense is so weak. Too bad Davis retired. Also, 3 setters was just unneccessary. USA also need really good OHs and OPPs. So I don't know...maybe Easy (if she wasn't injured) or Fawcett. There's a lot of new talent that we don't get to see on an international level too. But I prefer experience, which we now know team USA needed. And we need tall women!, like "Haneef-Park tall"! Not to worry, Cat McCoy and Cassie Strickland are coming in next quad. It'll be all about Molly Kreklow and Micha Hancock at setter. Tori Dixon, Inky Ajanaku, Hannah Tapp and Taylor Sandbothe at middle blocker. Kelsey Robinson, Krista Vansant, Hayley Hodson and Mikaela Foecke/Alexis Sun at outside hitter. Lastly, Karsta Lowe and Ebony Nwanebu/Yaasmeen Bedhart-ghani at opposite. Cat McCoy isn't even the best libero in college. www?!?!

IMHO Brazil choked way worse than USA, Brazil after winning 5 matches in a row by 3-0 lost their %*$# when they lost the first set in the competition, I knew Brazil wouldntpass after I saw the look on the players faces after losing that second set. They thought they were impossible to beat, here in brazil thought the same, and that cost their only chance to medal gold at home. I think they choked after losing that set and continued to play horribly scared with that deer-in-the-lights-about-to-get-hit eyes........
USA didnt need 3 setters at all I really think KK should have brought Fawcett, but oh well, Im not a KK fan, and I agree with almost every one here who criticized him for this and for his super ego and kumbaya team harmonics over TALENT.
Brazil took 4 middles and was criticized by people prefering him to bring two liberos, people even say had camila brait (the other libero) been there to help a very UNEXPERIENCED Leia, things could change, but thats baloney too, Brazil lost because they choked and because, well, ZHU.

Congratulations you guys for medaling, playing against a very strong and unpredictable team like the Netherlands, Congrats for the girls keeping their chin up and winnin 3rd place, I am from brazil and I must say that any medal would be great for the brazilian girls since a lot of them are going to retire from the team, namely Sheilla Castro and Fabiana Claudino, the rest is still unsure, but those two were so important that their leaving feels like an end of a whole generation. Natalia wasnt that good on the olympics as she was during the pro-league here, and BTW a Pro-League does NOT guarantee you sucess and better players like someone said here, it might help, but not that much. I just wanted to share with you all that I also dont understand why KK took #$%$# 3 setters! why?? Thompson played a for Rio de Janeiro team in the pro-league here in brazil just to stay in the bench for way over half of the competition, at the last games she wasnt even a starter, a young girl here calld Roberta Ratzke took her place as a setter and she was doing such a better job than Thompson that fans started to ask themselves why bring Thompson at all. Brazilians are putting the blame on Zé Roberto for being stupid lol, well he kinda was, against Chine he didnt do anything, ANYTHING to change the team, Thaisa was injured and not at her best and sheplayd most of the game, meanwhile Juciely in great form, on the bench... Dani Lins was underpressure and performing below her abilities just like Glass was for the USA. Also, why the hell didnt Ze Roberto put Jaqueline to play more? She is brillian, even at 31 years old, she shold be a starter, Natalia wasnt prepared for the olmpics it seems, but anyways, CHINA played very very well, Zhu Ting killed us, Lan Ping constant substitution confused us, and they totally deserved to win. Serbia is my second favorite two, Mihajlovic played for a while in brazilian-pro-lague too, which helped her a lot to improve. Boskovic isonly 19 and is already a monster, think ofthe way she served when it was 14-13 in the last set, that was a crazy risky serve!!! But actually I think China will get the Gold... Natalia was awesome, simply amazing, for 95% of the tourney. She was the best passer and terminator, by far. Did you watch all their matches? China sucked in pool play until the end. The studs for Serbia were hit or miss, literally, in pool play. They were the reason the team won and lost but the the USA should have won that match. It was less serbia and more USA nerves that lost the match.

Well, I didnt mean that she was totally bad, its just that I was used to another Natalia you dont know if you havent watched the last brazilian pro-league here where she was just a BEAST, she was good nevertheless in the olympics, but not the same Natalia Im used to. She will be even better from now on with experience, also she is going to play for Vakifbank in turkey, huge team.

It was less serbia and more USA nerves that lost the match. So Serbia's players weren't nervous, just hit or miss? Serbia won 5 of the last 6 points scored. Pool play and the finals are completely different beasts. The US approach is always to try to win their pool. That isn't always the case with other coaches from different countries. China obviously sandbagged during pool play, realizing that they didn't have the depth to compete full bore in both rounds.

As predicted, players are grateful for the bronze medal when some of the players were complaining about the silver in 2012. Doesn't add up. I wonder what the next quad motto is... They will complain about the Bronze medal and will be happy with finishing 4th in 2020.

It's such a letdown, gold medal favorites, #1 team in the world, and nothing to show for it. Atleast the Logan Tom/Destinee Hooker team played in the gold medal match. All this talk about team chemistry is bullcrap, there I said it.

Is it reverse sexism to not question Foulke's toughness? If this was NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL playoffs and the teams best player was killing it, then got hurt then went back in to keep killing it to all of a sudden mysteriously never been seen again to, oh wait, look just fine 2 days later and kill it some more I think people would justifiably ask WTF?!
I think what happened is some people are tough and fight through injuries and some people are really careful about their injuries. Maybe she was worried about losing her pro contract to an injury. Maybe she was afraid of hurting it more. Maybe she's just soft. Not everyone can be Brett Favre. Knee's are scary so can't blame her for whatever reaction she had to it.
This does make me really wonder if she will be back in 2020 though. How bad does she want it with an medical career waiting for her. If this is the last we see of Foulke I think we can all say thank you.

I wonder if Fawcett is sitting at home on her sofa watching this match, eating a quart of Ben & Jerry's, wondering what might have been. No, that was me.
