Wisconsin has to win out to get seeded above Minnesota, doncha think? Maybe not win out but it sure seems like they'd have to beat Minnesota at Minnesota. It'd be tough for the committee to justify seeding Wisconsin above Minnesota if Minnesota, with a harder schedule than Wisconsin, has beaten the Badgers twice. Wisc Has a harder schedule than Mn. And one less loss. But yeah, Wisc has to beat Mn at home to be seeded higher I would imagine. Unless Mn has an additional loss... Then who knows. Either way it could very well end up with Nebraska, mn and wi having three of the top 4 seeds with either a Kansas or UT

Even though we would have the best attendance and sell out regardless of who was playing. Etc. because "balance" or some crap.

The committee can "justify" any decision they make regarding seedings.
I don't think it's so much that the committee won't seed three B1G teams in the Top 4, it's that all those 3 teams are in the Central time zone, as is Texas. If Penn State (Eastern time zone) was one of the three B1G teams being considered for a Top 4 seed (and regional host site), they would get the nod simply based on the time zone.
I think Florida (in the Eastern time zone) would also get a "bump" if they had an arena available to host the regional.
If Texas doesn't win at least a share of the Big 12 title, they could get bumped out of consideration for Top 4 seed for not being a conference champion, and not having a non-conference win over a Top 15 RPI team.
But, if Stanford or UCLA don't win out, will be hard to make them a Top 4 national seed.

What is the Florida situation for hosting 1st & 2nd rounds? Would Florida go to a neutral site (such as Jacksonville) to host?
I know the NCAA got rid of the 2,000 minimum capacity requirements because Kansas hosted in their little gym last season, but the biggest crowd UF has had this year is under 900 at Lemerand.

It would be a disservice to the sport and the integrity of the tournament. They made the rules and should reward the programs that are deserving.

No minimum capacity for Rounds 1&2, minimum capacity of 3,000 for regionals. "Institutions may use an off-campus arena, provided that the facility is within 30 miles of the main campus and prior approval has been obtained from the committee. Institutions are not required to play regular-season matches in the facility." Schools that have a chance of getting seeded who are hosting men's basketball the weekend of regionals whose gym would be unavailable to host: Missouri UCLA - Pauley is in use, I can't imagine that second gym holds 3,000 people Kansas - Pretty sure their volleyball arena is too small and Phog Allen is out Purdue - Holloway is too small and Mackey is in use Creighton - Their volleyball gym holds 2,950 so they may be able to get a waiver, but the big arena downtown is in use. None of those are likely to get a top 4 seed. But the trickle down if a top 4 gets upset could be interesting.

A couple years ago Kansas hosted a sub-regional at an arena in Topeka, KS - as their gym was too small for the rules at the time and Allen Fieldhouse was in use. The result wasn't ideal as they lost in the 1st round and the arena seemed more like a neutral site. Still preferable to playing on someone else's home court.

If they beat Stanford/UW and win the conference they will most likely in consideration for a Top 4 seed. A H2H loss with San Diego doesn't really help though.

But it's (mostly) irrelevant if they can't host. If that actually happened, I think they'd definitely seed them 4th so that they next highest (#5) would get to host.

I am thinking UCLA could host at the Pyramid at Long Beach State. There are no basketball games at Long Beach that weekend. Problem is that Long Beach State is slightly more than 30 miles from UCLA by road. I would suspect that, as the crow flies, it would be a little under 30 miles.

That starts to get expensive though. The arena must be booked from Thursday morning through Saturday evening plus there is a $12,000 guarantee and UCLA doesn't draw all that well to begin with let alone in Long Beach.

In a crucial match to both the bubble and the conference race, Colorado State and UNLV are tied 1-1.

Colorado State beats UNLV 3-2 and completes the season sweep over them. Huge match for the Rams. Doesn't get any easier for UNLV, as they have to play at Wyoming on Saturday
