How owuld the Ft Lauderdale work? Tuesday through Saturday? But they would start the pool play like Thursday? I would assume that Tuesday and Wednesday would be the qualifier?

It was great 2 years ago as the season-ending tourney, and we had an awesome time. The setup down by what used to be the Yankee Clipper hotel (where we went to a few AVP tourneys many tears ago) was really nice, and even though it was the year-end, limited number of teams tourney, it was still great to watch. Living in Indiana, we of course are excited as hell and are already looking at flights, but I wonder how set in stone the dates (and this tourney) truly are? No offense, but I think we will wait until after November 30 to start firming up our travel plans - I remember reading somewhere on the FIVB website that the schedule will not become official until after some FIVB higher-ups meeting on that date. But I sure hope it happens!!!

I could be wrong but I think men's is one day and then women's is another.

The schedule has always been country quota (if needed) on Monday, men's and women's qualifiers both on Tuesday, main draw begins on Wednesday.

When do the entries for US teams usually get done? I was thinking of going to an event in the Spring (maybe Brazil or Malaysia) but I dont want to get stuck with tickets to an event that ends up having Crabb/Mayer as the top US team

Not sure when the entries would be final since this is such an early time for a tournament, especially on US soil, but my guess is that if it is truly going to happen, since they have it listed as a 5 Star Major, that will attract a lot of the top teams - just my opinion, Guest2!

I was thinking of going to a different event, Id like to experience it in a foreign country, but it looks like Ft. Lauderdale is the best bet. The problem with that event though is will teams be training and in form for it? Ill still probably go to this one as long as there are a few top international teams to see.

EarlKoppelman - the Ft Lauderdale is one of the Swatch events, so from the looks of it, I don't think Leonard is involved - the Long Beach FIVB event has happened for the past several years, so hopefully it is going to happen again this summer, but for some reason they have not gotten firm dates set for it yet. Fingers crossed!
