Not bad. This year's preseason is really hard to figure out. Not overly surprising to see the top 10 where they are.
Hawaii moved out to number 13. A bit surprising in that voters tend to judge off the previous years performance. Through, with Hawaii's loses, not necessarily unaccurate.
Seeing Long Beach out of the top 25 feels odd. It just isn't really normal.
Its nice to see Fresno State getting some recognition from the voters.
A lot of voters are respecting Pavan and Stalls going to Nebraska. There will be a lot of pressure on them to perform.

Blasphemy!!
Bah!!!
I'll think of something intelligent to say when the AVCA voters get the preseason poll intelligently done.

What I wanna know is, who the hell gave Cal a first place vote? Did they get the schools confused!?
What's even worse... who gave one to MINNESOTA!!
My goodness!

Why did these teams get votes? Starting from the bottom... - Florida State? Apparently Rita's influence is expected to help?
- Ball State? - Are you kidding me? Top 25 votes!?!
- Western Michigan? Not so bad... but, this is a Top 25, people!
- Pacific? Wake up voters and stop smelling the cocaine! This is the year 2004... Pacific isn't any good any more (sorry PG).
- Ohio State? ONLY 7 points?!
- Tennessee with more votes than North Carolina?
- Utah in the top 25?! What? You guys drop Hawaii to 13, then forget about Utah's ONLY option last year being gone too? Sigh.
- Not a single solitary vote for Idaho?! Good grief! Of course you all know... this means WAR!

Ala (R)uffda protesting... PS# | SCHOOL (1st Place) | 2003 Rank | Change | 1 | USC (56) | 1 | 0 | 2 | Nebraska (5) | 13 | 11 | 3 | UCLA | 5 | 2 | 4 | Florida | 2 | -2 | 5 | Minnesota (1) | 4 | -1 | 6 | Stanford (2) | 10 | 4 | 7 | Washington | 9 | 2 | 8 | Penn State | 7 | -1 | 9 | Pepperdine | 6 | -3 | 10 | California (1) | 12 | 2 | 11 | Colorado State | 14 | 3 | 12 | Georgia Tech | 8 | -4 | 13 | Hawai'i | 3 | -10 | 14 | Kansas State | 11 | -3 | 15 | Texas A&M | 16 | 1 | 16 | UC Santa Barbara | 22 | 6 | 17 | Arizona | NR | 9 | 18 | Loyola Marymount | 17 | -1 | 19 | Illinois | 15 | -4 | 20 | Louisville | 20 | 0 | 21 | Northern Iowa | 18 | -3 | 22 | Santa Clara | 19 | -3 | 23 | Wisconsin | 21 | -2 | 24 | Utah | 23 | -1 | 25 | Notre Dame | 24 | -1 |
The only schools with any major changes are Nebraska and Hawaii. Both in opposite directions. I can see Nebraska's vaulting, but I think a lot of coaches will be made to eat cake (by some tall upset dude with roots in red-necked-ness) when the season is over!

Both returning almost their entire teams. You should do better research.

Here's my question: how does Washington end up ranked behind Stanford? Makes no sense, considering the NCAAs and who's coming back.
UCLA @ #3 means this will be another year where they plummet in the polls.
Idaho? Must have been an oversight. BY ALL 65 VOTERS!
Four teams on a single ballot for 22 points? That means they were ranked pretty high, too.

Both returning almost their entire teams. You should do better research. Gee neither team made the tourney last season. In fact Florida State finished the season with a losing record, and Ball State finished the season wiht only 2 more wins than they had losses. Neither team is deserving of ANY votes! I totally agree with IB.

Both returning almost their entire teams. You should do better research. I realized they were both returning strong... but were they that good to begin with last year? I didn't really think so. ...and, if anything, I'd think adding Rita was a hindrance more than help.

Let's review IB's picks: 1--USC (frontrunner, like most) 2--Florida (this was a jab at Gator) 3--UCLA 4--Nebraska 5--Washington 6--Stanford 7--Hawaii (AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOGA!*) 8--GA Tech (because they looked good v. Hawaii) 9--PSU 10--CSU 11--Cal 12--Pepperdine 13--Minnesota (because he's a slimeball) 14--Notre Dame (pardon me while I retch) 15--OSU (a little carried away, methinks) 16--TAMU 17--UNI 18--KSU 19--Michigan (hmmmmm) 20--MSU (hmmmmm) 21--Wisconsin 22--Arizona 23--UCSB (oops!) 24--Idaho (Awoooooooooooooooooooooooga!*) 25--Fresno State (Awooooooooooooooooooooooooga!*) Tsk tsk tsk.

Well, that's your job. Isn't it, Toto? So who's Dorothty, IB or SoBB? Speaking of Dorothy, have you heard the Joke "Where's Dorothy?", Tis a Volleytalk favorite. I agree with IB because he was right to question Florida State and Ball State recieving votes. Perhaps you need to do "better research". Cal recieving a first place vote is a S--T--R--E--T--C--H as well. Minnesota's first place vote is not as much of a stretch as CAL's, but still pretty ridiculous, as is Stanford's 2 votes considering what a lousy defensive team Stanford is.

(Remember "i" before "e" except after "c". Of course, leaving the "e" out entirely is an interesting choice.)
