You have noted 4 transfers into Colorado for the 2016 season. By looking at the roster, the 4 transfers are : Alexa Smith from Purdue, Kiara McKibben from San Francisco, Marie Zimmerman from Sacred Heart and Frankie Shebby from Oregon. But this is a good example of how that simple analysis distorts the picture. When you look a little deeper into the facts for each player you would see that Marie Zimmerman had given up inter-collegiate volleyball after 2 seasons at Sacred Heart and transferred to her home-state school, Colorado, in 2015 as a regular student. She then played for the Colorado club team in 2015. She joined the inter-collegiate team for the 2016 season when they needed backup setter help. She was not a "volleyball transfer". Then if you look at Frankie Shebby you find that she had been dismissed from the Oregon team for not meeting certain obligations and could no longer play for Oregon. So if she wanted to continue to play inter-collegiate volleyball she had to go to another school. So for her the choice was transfer or give up volleyball. Because of conference rules, she has had to sit out the 2016 season. Again not the typical "volleyball transfer". The other 2 players were playing at their precious schools, were eligible to continue to play at their previous schools and choose for whatever reasons to transfer to Colorado. These 2 are the typical "volleyball transfer". Both these players were returning to their home state. There's always a reason for a transfer...academics, dismissed at previous school, wanted to play closer to home, not enough playing time, coaching changes, etc. So I'm not seeing any distortion here. Honestly, transfers have gotten so typical that you factor in losing 1-2 players after each season to another school. |

Sounds like good recruiting to me if only 3 were prospects, especially if they were young. If they were to meet the current team they would never even play with a majority of them, by bringing in the committed kids in the classes above them at the same time they get to meet kids they could be playing with. Its great recruiting. I think Coach Sheffield and his staff are probably the top recruiter(s) in the country at the current moment. That would depend on your definition of recruiting... |

All four freshmen at DePaul want to transfer. One is on scholarship. Nadia Edwards is a horrible coach, started 5-1 finished 2-11, all the players quit on her. Were ranked 41 finished 137. Had a great SR libero and switched to a slow JR who half her digs were overpasses. She could not figure it out and kept losing. Players and parents hate her. Could lose 7 players.

Had a great SR libero and switched to a slow JR who half her digs were overpasses. She could not figure it out and kept losing. Players and parents hate her. Could lose 7 players. Nothing like a good player+coach insult combo! Nice work. |

Id expect transfers out of USC again. You seem to want to stir up some discussion here. Trolling? I know of one player you want to see transfer to a certain school. I like where your thoughts lie, but at this point it's a dream. A good one though. |

If you would care to attach your actual name, occupation and then some facts, not hyperbolic opinion, then people can engage in a discussion with you. muskyhunter has been the stealth bomber of VolleyTalk for a while. Always negative, always mean spirited. This is the same person who was asking about programs/schools for his kid and said that anything that wasn't Division I was beneath his daughter and wasn't worth playing. He's a peach. |
