USC under utilizes its middles anyway.

Your comment is factually inaccurate. Ruddins (not a true MB) in 2016 hit for the highest percentage in the conference, and had more kills than either UW MB. In 2015 USC had NPOY Bricio taking a plurality of swings, and still had the MBs total a large amount of kills. That year Ruddins had just 1 less kill than Wade, and hit for a higher percentage. In 2014, Ogoms hit for a higher percentage than Sybeldon and had just a handful less kills on the season. In 2013 Olgard hit for the second highest percentage in the conference and outpaced the top UW MB by 26 kills. In 2012, Olgard hit for the highest percentage in the conference and no UW MB cracked the top 10.

You sure went through a lot of trouble to still be incredibly misleading on almost every point. Firstly, your numbers almost exclusively focus on aggregate kills rather than per set kills and, more importantly in the context of UTILIZATION, touches per set. What does hitting percentage have to do with utilization? Additionally, you fail to distinguish the impact of more subjective distinctions. Lets break it down:

As i'm sure you will agree, hitting percentage is NOT the same as utilization. Additionally, USC played more sets than UW. If you actually break it down BY SET, Bajems not only had more kills than Ruddins but, more importantly, she also had more TOUCHES...which goes more to utilization. Also, Ruddins was playing MB for going on year two, whereas Bajema was actually new to it. Also, Ruddins was a senior and Bajema a true freshmen. Also, Ruddins was the #2 ranked player in her class, Bajema was somewhere in the 80's.....but besides all of that, sure, USC utilized its middles more.

Again, completely missing the fact that USC played more sets than UW. When you factor in per set kills and touches on the ball, the discrepancy between Wade and Ruddins widens, advantage Wade. But, I'll give you a slight pass here, Ruddins was new to the position. I mean, she didn't do anything on the pins, despite being the #2 recruit behind Carlini her year, might as well see if she can do something in the middle. Additionally, when you look at the TANDEM utilization of the UW middles in 2015, the UW middles touched the ball far more often.

Again, what does hitting percentage have to do with with actual utilization? But I'll give you this one....Olgard, a Senior All American, ranked #2 MB in her class, had 26 more kills on the year than under the radar, underclassmen Sybeldon.

This isn't the right thread to discuss what utilization of MBs is and how it should be evaluated so I won't write a lengthy reply. I do think high efficiency is an important element of utilization. Relatively low efficiency could be indicative of overutilization. USC doesn't use their MBs the way UW does, true. They have been setting a 6-2 and don't run a slide. To me that isn't underutilization.

True we don't have to go back and forth, but, also, to be fair, UW has ran a 6-2 for almost every year you mentioned. They didn't last year.

Can someone explain to me the rules that determine when a transfer can play right away and when they have to sit out a year.  I have a vague idea that the coach/school must release a player in order for them to play but I'm sure there's more to it.

Sponcil to UCLA is huge. But I don't see LMU making the NCAA's next year(even if Sponcil returns). I like Sponcil so much as a player that I think she deserves a season at a top program.

Sponcil to UCLA is huge. But I don't see LMU making the NCAA's next year(even if Sponcil returns). I like Sponcil so much as a player that I think she deserves a season at a top program.
