Florida's twitter feed is advertising something exciting! Apparently it's something no other venue has... Here's the tweet. I was already excited about this Florida/Florida State matchup, but now I'm reaaaally excited! It will look cool on TV but if you are anywhere near Gainesville Tuesday night, get to the O'Connell Center and be prepared to be amazed! The one they did for the basketball game last year was incredible.

The one they did for the basketball game last year was incredible. Last year UF and UK Demo'd the 3D projection system and it got rave reviews. I read in the final budget for the new Odome that they purchased the 3D system for $300k and that they would be using it at all sports that take place there. Basketball, Gymnastics & Volleyball. Super excited to see it in action!

As a Gator fan, I can't say that I haven't seen their defense be this good in a while. I think we were all use to Florida leading the country in hitting percentage since they did it the past two years, but the biggest deal for me this year is the blocking and digging. One thing that they may have let slip through is that the Gators have two players (CK and Carli) in the top 10 in-conference in digs per set, and Florida as a team currently leads the SEC in digs per set.
[Florida, which ranks ninth nationally in blocks per set (3.10), is one of three teams in the nation with two individuals ranked 25th or higher in blocks per set—Washington and Wisconsin are the others After totaling 26 blocks in 10 sets last weekend, Rhamat Alhassan leads the nation in blocks per set (2.04) Alhassan is also one of five players in the nation to post 12 blocks in a four-set match this year, doing so against Lipscomb last Saturday Carli Snyder ranks second in the nation and leads the SEC in service aces per set (0.68) after tallying nine last weekend Rachael Kramer ranks fourth nationally and leads the SEC in hitting percentage (.488) Cheyenne Huskey ranks 25th nationally and third in the SEC in blocks per set (1.45)]

And she is not a bad setter.

I think the defense, to this point, is a huge improvement and something that will pay dividends in the post season. The offense has struggled at times, but what I've noticed is smarter offense to keep a point alive. Florida has been so efficient the last few years on offense, I think it hurt their defense. And when they matched up with teams that could get the ball back, the blocks and digs weren't there. Prob bc they weren't used to so many coming back at them. Passing broke down as well. If they can maintain the consistency on defense, they could have a special season. Offense comes and goes, defense wins championships. The addition of Huskey has def paid off defensively and I think her distribution and connection with hitters will improve as well. Hammons has been a nice addition as well, esp in the back row, minus some struggles with passing especially last match.
The season has started off well, but there is a lot of ro to improve and that's exciting for this team. Can't wait for the match tonight and the remainder of the season.

Does that put senior Monserez on the bench? Do we continue to run the 5-2 again next year?

Most Florida folks didn't think she'd even get a sniff of the court this year. Glad she is contributing!

Looks like CK is out to make a point after last year's performance in the NCAA tournament. She's been lights out this match, so far.

I am so sick and tired of hearing that the back row caused the Florida Gators down fall in the match versus Florida State last year. It's just not true. Moving on to the year that matters. This year. P.S. The play of the year was made by Knop in that match saving a ball from the endline that made it over the net for a kill. Re-watch it.

Meh, we'll have to agree to disagree, which is fine. At any rate, you are correct, this year is a new year and yes, that was a great play!

Looks like Hammons is going to be a six-rotation player. She played very well tonight.

So with Sokolowski taking on more of a Gabby Malette role (blocking and occasionally hitting) what happens to Greer?

So with Sokolowski taking on more of a Gabby Malette role (blocking and occasionally hitting) what happens to Greer? they are both hitting negative for the season, so I would expect Sokolowski to come in if Hammon’s is having a bad match. I think Greer will have a very tough time seeing the court.
