i was incorrect. made it past the armored vehicle and hit a save point. thought i wouldn't get any more of them.
have changed my outfit
Played past the armored vehicle several times before I even noticed the save point. LOL Happy hunting in the boss fight! i've faced him twice so far. each time i took out the 3 stations and got one hit on him. gotta figure out how to save my healing stuff. done for the evening

However, after I finished the game they offered new weapons to the mix which perked my interest a bit...for about 5 minutes and then I installed Horizon Zero Dawn.

Had a lot of play time with Horizon Zero Dawn this weekend. Ran into the Corruptors, Deathbringers, Thunderjaw, Trampler and Behemoth. I mistook the Behemoth for a Trampler and got smashed against the rocks, fought it again to a stalemate...next time. Finally got my Shadow Hunter's Bow and loving it. Thinking about selling the Nora Hunter's Bow that I had from the beginning.
I am at the point where I just found the old recordings of Dr Sobeck with the Faro CEO or whoever that guy is. Recommended Project Zero Dawn...getting more interesting as we move along.
I love the gameplay...in Tomb Raider there were places you couldn't go even though you now you should be able to but the programmers block you from walking up the hill, or climbing up the ledge that is only 1.5m high. In Zero Dawn, unless its a vertical cliff you can really go anywhere you want to...its great!

That Maker’s End mission took a long time for me because I read and listened to everything to get the complete background story. I think in my very first play through, I may have taken at least 1.5 hours, maybe more.

So far, I’ve had several opportunities to get a free rental for the Tomb Raider film (the 2018 film w/ Alicia Vikander). I have somehow lost the desire to watch it. I remember liking the game very much but after Horizon Zero Dawn, I’ve completely forgotten about that game. I think after Horizon Zero Dawn, I don’t think I’ll enjoy other games as much.

Just wanted to move along in the game.

Didn't realize it, but Alicia Vikander was also in Burnt with Bradley Cooper. Good movie...wondered if Bradley studied Gordon Ramsay to prepare for the role.

Finally got tired of playing Civ and Factorio so much, and decide to play a different kind of game. So I played through a run of Dishonored, and that was kind of fun.
I had never played any Assassin's Creed game, but I kept hearing about how good AC: Odyssey was supposed to be. And it was on sale on Steam. So....
I had to delete a bunch of other games from my drive. When I built this computer I chose to use solid state flash hard drives, for the speed and the quiet, but the downside is that they don't have nearly as much disk space. However, with Steam I can always reinstall deleted games later if I want to play them again.

So far AC: Odyssey has played a lot like a cross between Far Cry and the Elder Scrolls. Like the Elder Scrolls, leveling up is a big deal. You have a main questline, but you can wander around and find radiant quests to do also. Your armor and weapons are also level-locked, so you keep obsoleting your old armor and weapons quickly.
You can get a blacksmith to upgrade your armor and weapons (within limits), but it's kind of grindy. You need lots of raw materials that you harvest, kind of like Far Cry Primal where you were constantly grabbing every harvestable material you came across. Typically it's easier just to level up and find new armor and weapons that are more appropriate to your level.
Combat is more like Far Cry Primal than the Elder Scrolls. (I need to learn how to dodge and parry better ... there are limits to how effective it is to just stand there and mash the attack button.) Stealth and sniping from a distance are more effective than in Elder Scrolls. Also, like Far Cry, you can "tag" your enemies and see them through walls and stuff. Assaulting a large camp of enemies is a lot more like taking a Far Cry outpost than it is like fighting your way through an Elder Scrolls dungeon. You have to figure out ways to take the enemies out without fighting all of them at once -- ideally doing it one-by-one using stealth combat and/or sniping from a high location.
In Elder Scrolls, almost every dungeon has a boss at the deepest part of it (usually with a boss-level loot chest right next to it). AC: Odyssey is more like Far Cry in this respect, as there are not really any traditional "bosses" for most of your fights.
Except for a small introduction, there has been almost no reference to the "game within a game" thing from earlier AC games, where you are in the future and accessing memories of your ancestors.

i am so burned out on that franchise that i likely will never play another one.
hope you enjoy it.
(bonus points for 'eschew')
