I need somebody to do some research for me. Look at all the "Hidden Gems" sales on PSN and recommend a game for me. Stat! LOL! j/k No, seriously. A few I've heard are good: Subnautica: underwater open-world sandbox, good graphics Overcooked 2/Jackbox Party pack: if you have friends or other people to play with Enter the gungeon: procedurally generated roguelike, think Binding of Isaac with guns Journey: art-heavy adventure, won a grammy for its soundtrack as well as several game awards, only $5 Shovel Knight: old-school platformer with TONS of dlc and content Furi: another one with a good soundtrack, shoot 'em up/bullet hell boss fight insanity

Started another game of Stellaris today.
I usually play diplomatic/economic empires. All my usual strategies involve avoiding war, especially early on. I'm trying to learn how to play one of the empire types that can't use diplomacy and relies on war. I have created a machine empire of "determined exterminators", who can not co-exist with any biological life forms.
The first time I tried playing them I got wiped out, but I think the problem is that I tried to play them like a normal empire. This time I started out by throwing all my resources into warships and then immediately launching into a war with the first empire I could. It seems to have worked OK so far. I gobbled up a bunch of their star systems. I guess I just need to keep focusing on expanding through conquest.

need to gobble up all them star systems Typical warfare in Stellaris is based on "claims". It costs you influence to make a claim, and the deeper into someone else's borders, the more expensive the claim. If you go to war with another empire, typically any systems you capture are only temporarily controlled by you. When the war ends, usually any systems you control that you also claim get transferred to you, and any systems you lose that were claimed by the empire that holds them get transferred to them. Otherwise, the ownership remains with the original empire. You can also go to war with an empire for which no claims are at stake. The outcome may be to "humiliate" the opponent, which has some negative effects. Certain empire types may also declare an ideological war. At the end of an ideological war, enemy systems they hold will become part of a new independent empire that is ideologically aligned with the victor, but they won't be under the control of the victor. However ... some empire types only participate in total wars. As soon as a star system is won or lost, it immediately transfers to the victor. No claims required either way. My current empire is a robot intelligence that eliminated the biological species that created it. It can only participate in total wars of extermination with biological empires. No claims, no ideology. If I win or lose a system, it's instantly won or lost. I have named the empire "Skynet".

Damn, I wasn't careful enough. I declared war on an enemy without noticing they had a strong ally, and now I'm the one getting wiped out.
This style of play is tricky.
I may start again.

New DLC mission out for Desperados III. It's been a while since I played it. I'm kind of getting used to it again. I've cleared out a couple of areas, but I've made perhaps excessive use of my sniper ammo. I hope there is more stashed around the level.

Demon of hatred? Bad guys are really terrible at coming up with sympathetic names for themselves. Near the end, just as they’re about to die, they then complain that they just wanted to be loved.
