On Iowa Vball Twitter they are celebrating a Senior player each day of this week as it leads up to the Senior Night this Saturday against Ohio State. Yesterday was Taylin Alm, who is a redshirt Junior. Figured earlier on this season when she was included in pics with the other Seniors that she would not be back next year. However, today they are celebrating Kasey Reuter. She also is a redshirt Junior but didn't see that one coming about her not coming back next year! I have so much respect for each of these two. Anyway, passing along because if that's correct about Reuter, that should now be 5 schollies available for next year. Hmmmm... Let's pick up a W this Sat night against those Buckeyes. And heck, let's shoot for the moon and give PSU a battle tomorrow night, too! GO HAWKS! Hmmm perhaps a transfer MB/L to help bring some veteran experience to open starting positions next season? Anyway, here’s some highlights from signing day! So my assumption is we have these four on schollie and Hine will be signing as a walk-on in the spring? Welcome to the new Hawkeyes!!!! So excited to have you in black and gold! As for possible transfer(s), I was even thinking maybe a back-up setter? Without Franck, we basically have no dedicated setter as backup for Orr. Know would have to be someone who would embrace role of backup but maybe draw would be to be part of the B1G. I believe Hine is listed as DS/S on club team so apparently has setting skills so maybe not needed but that's sure been a noticeable gap in the roster this year. And, yes, I do also think Molly Kelly could step in if really needed there, too. Anyway, just food for thought. And with 3 MHs coming 2018 and more in 2019, think a transfer in the middle in 2018 could clog things up in that position...unless would discover rare find of experienced, talented MH that would transfer just for senior year (like we found in awesome O'Neill!) or something. Also wondering if any of the new MHs will start this spring to get some experience with the team and at college level under their belt. Plus, if not, we will have no middles for spring play!! My assumption is that for sure we have the three 2018 middles on schollie but would be surprised if Slagle would receive one in her first year over possibly offering to players who saw the court this year in that DS role (Smith and Johnston coming to mind). But these are just all assumptions and that's why we have our great coaching staff, right? Another little tidbit: will be interesting to see the Buzzerio sisters on opposite sides of the net next year when the Hawks play Indiana! Congrats to Megan's sister Courtney on joining the Hoosiers next year. Heck of a talented family to have sisters both playing in the B1G. Let's get a much-needed W tomorrow night as we honor our amazing Seniors! GO HAWKS!

Way to take care of business tonight, Hawks! According to Bond last week, he thought 7 conference wins would get us into NCAAs. This puts us at 6 so have to pick up at least one on the road in the last four matches against Maryland, Ohio State, Illinois or Nebraska.

Not to sound overconfident, but the way the Hawks have been playing, they're getting at least two of those matches, maybe three if they play tough in Huff Hall.

I’ll be pleased with at least one, VERY happy with two (that 100% locks us into the tourney), and three would be insane!

Although playing well, we sure have not been stellar on the road, though. Otherwise, I would be pretty confident, too. I really do believe they'll get at least one of these. GO HAWKS!

The last time we beat Ohio St. was back in ‘08 in the Dingman years, Kiley Fister’s senior season as our setter (loved that kid), Smale, Kremer, and Hiza. Great group of seniors!

Can the Hawks make the tournament? So far four teams Iowa beat in the preseason have earned automatic bids; Coastal Carolina (twice), Howard, American, and Princeton.

Yeah, that Maryland loss was a killer, especially since both teams are in the bubble (and closely tight in the latest RPI). But I think this weekend's automatic bids are swaying in Iowa's favor.

Iowa right now is not in good shape on the bubble. They currently are 0-10 against the Top 25, 1-3 vs teams 26-50. I agree with bprtbone, to have a shot, 1-1 this next weekend is a must. Ohio State, who they've beaten twice is just outside the Top 50. If they were to swing into the Top 50, maybe, but as of today, Iowa would be out.

We can... the only way to guarantee it though is a W this upcoming week (very tough task vs Illinois/Nebraska at their places). Otherwise we're probably on the outs.

Per the current RPI (I'm not sure if you're looking at Futures instead) OSU is #42, so technically we're 3-3 against #26-50.
