When all is said & done on Women's side...No Kerri (as expected)...But no Sweat & Ross (big surprise)....This team has worked extremely hard this off-season...Don't think it was to come to the defense of Kerri, as her own partner didn't.... Bummed 🙁 that Sun & KW couldn't find a resolution to their dispute....Wish both sides luck!!!! I think the Women's side is going to be very interesting. Ross and Walsh would have dominated. Looking forward to seeing Branagh/Xi and Carico/Fendrick.

I do too....Not sure if Pavlik even had a regular partner. She might have been waiting to see what happened with Kerri. Guess April will get lots of practice with blocking in HB..

Just looking at women players with a Stanford connection: Lauren Fendrick*, of course and Karissa Cook no surprise. I am surprised to see Jaimi Gregory, after not playing any pro vb last year and only two in 2015. And Alix Klineman, who did play one event last year, her first since 2006. And finally, Sunny Villapando, who is supposed to be coming to Stanford to play beach next year.
*Only as a coach.

Whitney is the best April could do? Wow. Thats a surprise. The favorite has to be Salgado and Pavan in a near walk.
Anyone else see Rio Frohoff? Daughter? Niece? No relation?

I will try and tone in down because Greenpier is getting mad at me. A separate women's tour didn't didn't work before, not sure it it could now. Greenpier....Sorry...I will be nicer.... I appreciate your enthusiasm but Kerri has blown it taking on Mr Sun..................

I see at least 8 teams with high school players signed up. Any chance any of them make it to the main draw? I wouldn't be surprised if the qualifiers start to look like the CBVA Women's tournaments with the high schoolers making up a big % of the field.

I appreciate your enthusiasm but Kerri has blown it taking on Mr Sun.................. Annnndddd....Mr. ☀️ Has blown it by alienating the biggest name this sport has at a time that we really need to grow this sport. We are seeing the effects already. Right along NBC was going live for the finals May 7th....Guess what? Now it will be taped to show at a later time. You know when that time will be? 2 or 3am when people are asleep...Do you know why that is? I do .Greenpier...We will continue to agree to disagree. Other players caved last minute out of fear that Donny Boy was going to pick up his balls & go home. Well, if he did, there would have been someone else in the wings waiting to start it back up. Only one women's team had the guts to take the risk. Although I haven't looked yet, they may have changed their mind too. In all fairness to a lot of these players, they can't afford to sit home. This is just my opinion. I appreciate & respect everyone's opinion on this. I've also sat here and read all the comments about how egotistical Kerri is and how she only cares about herself, etc.....I could say the same about Donald Sun.....If Donald Sun really wanted to grow this sport, the biggest name & fanfare he has wouldn't be sitting home over 150k. I guess the bottom line is neither blinked in round 1. As many have alluded to, this may very well be a lose lose situation in the end....

Let's remember we have not seen the merits of the lawsuit or probably understood the extent/reason/etc. on the "boycott", so before we come to conclusions on all of this, why not wait for some facts, which should surface soon. We're like the people watching the OJ case unfold: They surveyed MANY groups BEFORE and then AFTER the "crime of the century" which had more evidence than virtually any other trial in history and the results: VERY LITTLE change in belief of guilty/innocence in all groups...We just take the position we have and follow it through, IN LIEU of the facts . . .

Again just what I heard from a friend this morning in CA...No proof...But Kerri is expected to announce her retirement from professional VB next week to pursue other business interests. I didn't believe it, but just read her Instagram post & Facebook post! Kinda a little forshadowing maybe?

Interestingly, neither Walsh Jennings/April Ross nor Summer Ross/Sweat are entered in the FIVB Rio Four Star or FIVB Moscow Three Star tournaments. Most of the top U.S. Men's and Women's teams are entered.

I think that IF this announcement news is true, that it was a very very recent decision. KW may have been offered a business position she could not refuse. Time will tell. Thought her social media post was compelling and kinda in line with what I heard.

For her & her family not having to travel the world to make a living would be nice .
Even though she said she would not like to coach, that is where the new money is.
All these hopeful parents are about to get fleeced by the old guard VB pros turned coaches. It's a gold rush out there and much more money than playing could bring in.

The more I think about it, the more sense it's making. I'm not sure if it's coaching, but something has been offered to her. Something that pulls Kerri Walsh off the sand has to be a big deal. She has the ability to grow the game off the sand much more than she is able to on the sand.
