According to a friend, Kerri & April didn't practice at all together this past week. With the AVP & KW apparently parting ways, Has not entered the next two FIVB events, her post yesterday. Seems like it's a done deal. No other tours for her to play on.

The realist in me says they can win on the AVP, they don't podium on FIVB...Whitney is good but no April or Kerri...

Whitney's only hope of staying with April for more than this event and even that is tiny - is if the other AVP players can't keep their regular FIVB partners by playing with April on the AVP (i.e. if April and Kerri are playing FIVB). If playing with April on the AVP AND FIVB is on the menu, any US player would choose that.

Whitney is the best April could do? Wow. Thats a surprise. The favorite has to be Salgado and Pavan in a near walk. Anyone else see Rio Frohoff? Daughter? Niece? No relation? Niece

Re. rules changes; wish the AVP was the "800lb gorilla" before trying to make changes to the rules as FIVB is pretty silent on all of this (are they? Assume they're going nowhere on any rule changes, other than contact net violation which has surfaced at times; Nobody likes the net rule) But FIVB IS the 800lb-er, so you have to take a back seat there (BUT, in Sun's defense, maybe he can show some utility in his changes, so far, haven't heard much reaction that would sway FIVB)....anyway, just some thoughts.

Honestly, I'm not too surprised the rule changes stuck around- I don't recall (and apologies if I'm wrong) there being a really big deal being made about the changes one way or another. (Minus Kerri's statements/boycott). It will be interesting to see if these changes do stay around for awhile, especially in a few years as we get closer to the Olympics. Changes or not, internationally FIVB rules still rule supreme.

It can't be escaping them that too many games/matches anticlimactically end on a routine sideout or missed serve.

As volleyballjim pointed though, the FIVB is the top dog, in terms of the sport. As such, they'd probably not be so inclined to follow the AVP's lead. If they see tangible benefits, I have no doubt they would: they would just drag their feet and take their sweet time in doing so.

A post from Kerri to a fan from Facebook" "I won't be competing on the AVP. A statement will be aiming out soon .... it is absolutely sad and unfortunate, but it is the right thing for myself, my values and for the future of the sport I love so much. GREAT things are coming!!!! Stay tuned " I'm sure an official statement coming out in the next couple of days...she also says she will be playing NVL Hermosa & WSOBV in Long Beach.

GREAT things are coming!!!! Stay tuned " I'm sure an official statement coming out in the next couple of days...she also says she will be playing NVL Hermosa & WSOBV in Long Beach. Hmm...Great things are coming? Can't see that unless maybe she's teaming up with Al and Leonard as a partner? That's the only thing that would make any impact. She would bring a lot as a co-owner such as signing up sponsors/advertisers for the NVL. She knows a lot of influentials in media, business, politics etc and so could open doors. This would also explain the payment dispute with Donald? Is there a non-compete in her agreement with the avp? Also, I've been thinking that if the NVL came up with a better deal for the players, then the players would go ahead and accept the ban from the avp and bolt. In that sense there is really not as much downside in signing the avp's agreement unless there is a monetary penalty in addition to the ban. So the NVL is not dead, they've just got to come up with more $ for the players. Sorry, this probably should be on a different thread...
