Given Sarah's performance in Brazil, and Lane's skill set, I think short of Kerri Walsh this is Carico's best possible partner Nicest thing you've ever said lol I'm a huge Sarah booster. I think she is a top 10 player in the world.

Looking at the AVP's website: it says the NY tournament will take place on two piers. Does anyone know how many courts typically get set up? Do they play two matches at once, one on each pier? Will they stream all of them?

I have no idea about NY, but in San Francisco where they use a pair of conjoined piers, I think they have had six or eight courts set up. It is big area, and includes a parking lot.

Will they stream all of them? We really only have two beach vb piers. Each has 3 courts on it, but I believe last year there was just one competition court and possibly a warm up court, but I'm not 100% sure.

If they are using the same two piers as last year (which were right next to each other) they'll have a built in stadium court on one and a permanent set up that had 4 courts on the other? There is another pier with courts, but it is not right there. 2 years ago they separated the quali's onto the 2 permanent court piers. Last year they just used the 4 courts on the one.

I imagine US teams are going to Moscow to get a head start on gathering FIVB points.

looking on the FIVB site, looks like the US men will have a CQ match to get in the Quali.
Slick/Allen vs. Crabb/Rosie
On the Women's side: Lane/Ledoux vs. Day/Hochevar for the Q as well.

Sounds pretty good: looks to be an awesome tournament. Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know if they have the men's and women's roster for NYC up yet?

BVBinfo had some preliminary info up last week (see comments on page 1), but it is no longer available. Might have to wait another week. I assume you've looked at AVP.com yourself.

I'm not familiar with how Main Draw teams are determined versus Qualification Teams, but do Claes/Hughes have more entry points than Day/Hoochevar? That is pretty impressive since Claes/Hughes have not played many FIVB's.

Somewhat off topic, but if a college student participates in AVP (or really any other tournament) and earns money, are they allowed to accept it?

Im also completely in the dark on how points are calculated for entry, but bvbinfo shows that Emily has more Claes/Hughes combined over the last two years and both Day and Hochevar have more this year than Claes and Hughes
