Creighton moved 2. If that's a big move, then you missed Minnesota 4 to 2. Must not have thought much about Washington to move them 5 spots after losing to #9 but then only having Texas drop 3 spots after losing to number 12. Washington lost at home. Texas lost on the road.

Someone STILL voted Texas #1? gotta be a homer from Texas... They did not look like a #1 team at all. And considering they had to win at the mercy of ref calls to close out the 4th against the Ducks, they should not have a #1 vote at all. Hell, they still rank Nebraska about the Ducks even though the Ducks kicked their ass. Whiny ducks. Not surprised.

Well, when you are a D1 coach you can vote.

Hawaii was ranked in the top 25 for 9 of 16 polls in 2014, highest was #17 in preseason poll finishing at 23rd
Prior to that they were ranked top 25 on 9 of 13 polls in 1992 starting the season at #13 before falling completely out after the 6th week
This is the third year since the top 25 started coming out in 1982 that they are not in the top 25

I don't know any of these teams other than the four I saw this weekend: Hawaii, UCLA, Marquette, San Diego. And I can't name a single San Diego player other than Dan Fouts and Junior Seau.

I really don't pay much attention to the AVAC poll - but when looking at the final rankings it appears that the sample size of coaches voting is large enough that stupid outlier votes really don't have a noticeable impact?

Creighton played very well. UW was missing one of their top players (Crissy Jones, ankle) and is playing a new lineup (Tia Scambray to Libero being the biggest change), which will take some time to gel.

Hawai'i took a huge hit. But with the grit they showed on Sunday, I'n optimistic they are going to right the ship soon. Nothing worth it if you cannot take the hits and lickings.

Is the point of the poll to reward who is going to be the best team or who played the best volleyball last weekend?(I know its political as all hell). One could certainly argue for the Gators to be #1 given who they beat, and yes they did play at home. I thought Nebraska would drop further. Are the Huskers getting a pass because Hunter is hurt? Is that fair? Did Creighton get a big enough boost for beating Washington on their home floor(no easy feat) or snubbed by the poll's love for the B1G? I honestly don't know that teams should get a pass losing because they have kids gone due to injury because this is the team they have on the floor at that moment. In the end it's the first weekend of the season. The next few weekends will prove interesting.

Just ironic because I read something like, "UW reached the Elite Eight, and returns PAC POY and 2nd Team AA Setter, and loses no-one ..." about 100 times during the off season. Now they lose and we get excuses about a new line-up.

I'm surprised that Nebraska remained ahead of Kentucky and Oregon. If it's true that Oregon State's coach excluded Oregon from the top 25, he's wasting the time of legitimate voters. This poll doesn't mean anything at the end of the year, but it means a lot to programs that do not get mentioned much. For that, I'm happy to see Lipscomb included in the others receiving votes.
I also impressed with Florida's MB.... no, not Al Hassan, Kramer! Ok, Al Hassan is impressive too. They have to be the best MB tandem.
