I'll state the obvious: pay attention to the points, not the rankings. That'll tell you more about movement.

TBH, I am not sure Jones is better than a healthy De Hoog anyway. I was also proud of Reni. She really has improved her setting tempo and location from last year. Jones' injury had a chain-effect. She's a six-rotation player and DeHoog plays front-row only. Bajema was slated to start at OH, but for three rotations, with McPherson subbing for her back-row. Julye was inserted, instead, as purportedly the better all-around player - she did great against Pitt, but struggled against Creighton's tall block. DeHoog played great. UW's problems were more with inconsistent passing and Creighton knowing what was coming on OOS plays.

Wow, making excuses already? This is early even for you, Redbeard. See my previous post for my reply. I actually think it was a loss that could pay dividends later on, especially against other tall teams (one in particular).

I also impressed with Florida's MB.... no, not Al Hassan, Kramer! Ok, Al Hassan is impressive too. They have to be the best MB tandem. Williams and Rettke are going to challenge for that title.... As a Freshman, Rettke wasn't supposed to be this good this early. Are six feet - eight inch middles the future of women's volleyball? I'm impressed that Rettke is already quick enough to pay the MB position at this level while being so tall.

TBH, I am not sure Jones is better than a healthy De Hoog anyway. Neither am I, mainly because the opportunity to actually see a healthy DeHoog has been nearly non-existent.

I'm impressed that Rettke is already quick enough to pay the MB position at this level while being so tall. Rettke's challenge is less about innate physical quickness and more about familiarity with the sport. She's multi-sport athlete who was a late convert to Vball. She played basketball into high school and was heavily recruited for it. She seems to have made up a lot of ground though. Her anticipation this weekend was very good. host.madison.com/wsj/sports/college/volleyball/badgers-volleyball---dana-rettke-ready-for-her-wisconsin/article_3ee6ef15-c46c-509b-9150-392f386b51e5.html

Redacted because it's not worth re-posting How are Creighton, Wisconsin and Minnesota "not even the slightest bit tested yet"? SMH. We would all be well served to put this poster on ignore and stop quoting his bs. He is really off the rails from talking about a player's mental health issues, to saying refs were paid off in the Tx/Oregon match, etc. Let's stop feeding the troll.

Just a week ago there were UNC posters complaining about the disrespect and people were falling all over themselves to agree Now UNC is not enough of a test? Outside of Florida/Texas/Nebraska I do not see anybody else that has had a real test yet, probably drop nebraska out of that equation since they didn't even have their setter on the court

Is the point of the poll to reward who is going to be the best team or who played the best volleyball last weekend?(I know its political as all hell). One could certainly argue for the Gators to be #1 given who they beat, and yes they did play at home. I thought Nebraska would drop further. Are the Huskers getting a pass because Hunter is hurt? Is that fair? Did Creighton get a big enough boost for beating Washington on their home floor(no easy feat) or snubbed by the poll's love for the B1G? I honestly don't know that teams should get a pass losing because they have kids gone due to injury because this is the team they have on the floor at that moment. In the end it's the first weekend of the season. The next few weekends will prove interesting. It's a POLL. That means the results are compiled from the voting of a bunch of coaches. It doesn't work to reward anybody for anything.

Creighton played very well. UW was missing one of their top players (Crissy Jones, ankle) and is playing a new lineup (Tia Scambray to Libero being the biggest change), which will take some time to gel. Just ironic because I read something like, "UW reached the Elite Eight, and returns PAC POY and 2nd Team AA Setter, and loses no-one ..." about 100 times during the off season. Now they lose and we get excuses about a new line-up. That's why we need this: *
