I'll be curious too see if the Corbelli's will survive again at A&M . . . 25 years in Aggie land, 2 years removed from region and conference COY and only the 2nd losing season in 7 years. Wasn't last year a senior-heavy team? I think she writes her own ticket out of town when she is ready. Same was said about Elaine Michaelis.......

I'll be curious too see if the Corbelli's will survive again at A&M . . . I doubt it. They were probably expecting their 2015 Player of the Year, Aiple, to be back for her last season so they scheduled tough this year. They had by far the toughest schedule in the nation. Still no way they reach .500 and become tournament eligible, but if they were .500, they'd probably move up in the RPI and make the tournament again this year.

I'm sure Texas, Stanford, PSU, and Wisconsin had A&M on their schedules expecting the Aggies to have a better season. Will they likely make the tourney next year? Same personnel as this year for the most part, but lose a couple of starters, I think. Not sure if they have any difference-makers coming in for 2018?

My understanding is no, always a possible, but this may have been a Memphiesqe kind of thing sans tobacco. (obscure old school reference, you newbies will have to do your research). Smoking

So you are saying if they won more they'd make the tournament... and then the coaches would get to keep their job. Honestly, you could say that about 90% of the coaches mentioned on this thread The interesting question is how this ties in with the football decision. If they fire Kevin Sumlin and need to come up with his $10 million buyout, plus the money owed to anyone on staff, the AD may be too busy to worry about volleyball.

Hasn't A&M been to the tourney like 5 years running? And is one of the top programs in the SEC that won it 2 years ago? Corbelli's not on the hot seat. They've benefitted greatly from switching to a more manageable conference.

Don't knock the SEC, C4....it's a conference on the way up! .....of course, not on the level of the AAC but may be able to compete with them soon!

They've benefitted greatly from switching to a more manageable conference. And, they've been passed by Kentucky's program as second best in the SEC. Looks like LSU is back on track, too. Georgia and Auburn seem to be up-and-comers. If Corbelli isn't recruiting on par with those programs, they will get passed over. As I said, I'll be happy the longer she stays there; she poses no threat to Texas in the immediate future.

It's not that they've performed poorly, it's that at a major state university in the state of texas, shouldn't she have accomplished more? She and her assistant are north of 60, they've never made a final four, they graduate 3 of their top 7 and their were swepted by Arkansas and Ole Miss, smaller schools who have smaller athletics budgets and inferior recruiting bases in the sport of volleyball. They could get back to the NCAA tournament but really, if you are A&M, a new coaching staff should get them to the NCAA tournament and then some. They deserve the chance to continue but they have a relatively new AD who owes them nothing so I won't be surprised either way.

A&M had their most successful post-seasons when Jim Moore was driving the Texas program into the ground. As soon as Jerritt Elliott arrived at Texas, it didn't take him long to overtake Corbelli's program as the best in the state. Shortly after that, he made Texas into a national power again. A&M has the same in-state recruiting base as Texas, but has not capitalized. Look at all the elite players in Texas who have headed to Kansas, OU, LSU, etc. over the last decade instead of deciding to play for Corbelli. Does anyone expect that to change based on one SEC championship two seasons ago?

Just don't get in trouble and graduate everyone with honors to offset the football and men's basketball GPAs.

But, they didn't get to play in it as the host school.

The Corbelli's are comfortable in the SEC and TAMU. A move to AAC would totally put the spotlight on them, and they would have to perform at the highest level.
