UCSB now 0-11 after losing 3-1 to Cleveland State. Gotta be a bonfire under that seat. end of the road probably, in my opinion - don't know what the contract length was for - if this is the last year, it's over is my bet here's the rub UCIV may make a 'mini-run' in conference - Ruddins only plays one time a day, so there will be a different dynamic for opponents to deal with in conference in conference Ruddins will be much better rested - I wouldn't be too shocked if UCIV goes 10-6 in conference although I'd be surprised still, not having Juley & Chanel Hoffman has just killed UCIV this year Do you realize that there a lot of people on here who have no idea what your reference to "UCIV" is about. Maybe you should save that reference for your Long Beach State board.

Bernardinho is interested in coaching college! He won't be after he has had to deal with college recruiting and parents.

A conversation I had a year or so back with one of SC's senior administrators. The subject came around to "when Mick retires..." and the names being tossed around were pretty much a who's-who (one name that didn't come up? Jerritt Elliot). And I don't believe it was just idle chatter, since the admin was well aware of the compensation packages for said names. While I'm somewhat skeptical that SC can land their whale, so to speak, the volleyball program does have some insanely wealthy boosters who could make a difference. Women's basketball is an interesting case. USC went with splash hires - the two Coopers - with poor results. Most recently, they thought they had their #1 target ready to sign, but Lynn Swann frankly botched it. Part of his learning curve, I guess. Appreciate the info. If you are able to disclose, can you say who their #1 target for WBB was? Kate Paye, Stanford's associate HC.

Anyone think the Columbus might be getting a little warmer for Carlston? I think his best seasons at OSU are behind him. He's been successful enough over the years but this year looks like it could be rough.

This is good work, the question is, how many of these schools care enough about VB to make an effort to be competitive. Off the top of my head, five. Maryland, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, St Mary's and UCSB. I believe a lot of these schools care enough. A winning record isn't the only gauge of a program's success. A difficult conference makes .500 sometimes hard to achieve. With women's volleyball becoming increasingly more popular each year more programs have access to deeper rosters. I think this season has already shown how smaller schools not only compete with but can defeat the larger and better funded top-tiered programs.

At least two of those, Maryland and Notre Dame, are unquestionably moving in the right direction after large investments were made by the administration.

I second this, however, when the athletic department focuses 97% of its time to football, a bad season or two or three could get swept under the rug for that program. Three straight sweet sixteens might be enough for him to stay comfortable for oh say, two more years. However, if he continues to bring up the middle/back half of the B1G pack, his seat might warm up fast. I know his recruiting class the next 2 years are extremely solid though so, I'm going to stay optimistic and give him my confidence.

His habits of running off staff have caught their eye. He was saved by the Sandbothe years, but I would imagine his seat is warmer than most think...

How about UTSA? Struggling, Old school coach, who cleaned out staff this spring, long time female AD and proponent has recently been replaced by new Pres...that seems like a recipe for a toasty seat.

Conference play has started...who will start feeling the heat if they don't improve conference standing?

Can we officially put San Diego State on this list after losing to San Jose State last night? No excuses they have to much talent to not be at the top of the conference every year.

Losses to Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, CSUN, Utah State, Boise State not good. They do have Ken Murczek on staff though. I think another year or two and they can turn it around.
