Can we officially put San Diego State on this list after losing to San Jose State last night? No excuses they have to much talent to not be at the top of the conference every year. Losses to Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, CSUN, Utah State, Boise State not good. They do have Ken Murczek on staff though. I think another year or two and they can turn it around. It’s year 8. The only accomplishment was sharing the Mountain West title and first round defeat in the NCAA tournament in 2012. How do you consistently have great talent and aren’t at the top of the conference ?

Well, cheeseburger states that Deitre is under contract though 2019. So at least one more year after this year is possible.

I sure hope your comment about the assistant coach was just trying to make a joke.

I'm not certain USC needs a "whale" either. Look at U-Dub and Oregon, they just brought in fairly young (but competent) assistants who have personalities that appeal to potential recruits. If USC can do likewise and keep some of the recruits that seem to be heading North from SoCal (and NorCal), they should be able to return to former glory. If they can't land the 'whale' (Hugh, Elliot, or in my estimation, Karch), then they could look at a former assistant coach.....Tim Nolan at Grand Canyon. He's getting the experience how to run a program on his own, so he should be ready, somewhat.

I mean they’ve lost to Chicago State.

The Ken Murczek who got fired from Wake Forest and featured on an HBO special about abusive coaches? If he's the answer, then I'm scared for the players.

And Karch would definitely be on their radar.

And Houston wins its first conference match since 2015! Sweeping UConn at Houston. Maybe her seat is cooling off a bit.

I do not think any of the third year coaches are really in much trouble, unless school has overly high expectations or some other issue gets created. None of those programs have been super powerful in recent years, so those coaches probably still have time.
Evansville coach got an extension. Evansville is not a school that can afford to hire another coach while still paying the old one.

The Loyola Chicago coach best get working. 1-14 isn't very good.

Concepcion extension articleUSA Volleyball had a link to an article about a new development plan for their facility but that is conspicuously gone now, which does make me wonder a bit.

Good for him that he got an extension, his record on the other hand...

you maybe on to something here... I highly doubt that in the Arizona athletic department is spending two seconds thinking about volleyball right now. Sweet 16 last year, rebuilding year, might as well focus on the flagship basketball program whose top assistant was just ARRESTED for money-laundering.
