common sense and logic should tell you the answer double and admitting it doesn't make you awful . In the history of our society, “common sense” told us that many things were right that we no longer accept, like that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote, were naturally less intelligent than men, weren’t fit for leadership positions, etc. We thought it was natural to enslave people, appropriate to segregate them, correct to ban interracial marriage. We accepted all of that because “it just made sense.” The changes we have experienced that have ended those practices were led by relatively small groups of forward-thinking people. They challenged “common sense” and we have a different society because of it. You can base your perspective on your assumptions of the advantages this player has. I will base mine on current medical and legal opinion. this has zero to do with prejudice. My best friend in art school was transgender so give that up. This is strictly about fairness in sports for years to come. Are you sure you are making it about what is best for transgenders or indulging your own political view?

No one is a transgender urghhhhhhhhhhh Did I misread the title of this thread? Can't say for sure but player is the noun in the title of the thread. "A Transgender" isn't a noun.

I stated that “common sense” doesn’t make a strong supporting argument for preserving the status quo, as I see it. What has been going on in sport for the past 40 years (after this issue was brought up the first time a MTF athlete was approved to play in a major sporting event)? No crazy rush of transgender athletes, that is for sure. Yes, I am making my statements about what is fair for transgender athletes - to compete, abiding by the rules set forth by their governing body, following the most up-to-date medical knowledge and legal opinions. Your perspective seems to be more biased than mine as you opt to refute the recommendations of those specifically charged with understanding the issue to the deepest degree. Are you afraid your daughter will lose her spot to a transgender athlete? BTW, NCAA adopted a similar policy on MTF participation in 2011! Name one athlete in the past 6+ years who has made sports unfair or made it worse for transgender people?

If Bruce Jenner would have transitioned then entered the olympics would it have been fair? Yes or NO.

Since you want it to go that way. One doesn't say "a black" when referring to a black man. It's dehumanizing and reduces said man to only his skin stripping him of his humanity. Black is a adjective and man is the noun. Similarly "a transgender" dehumanizes and reduces someone to one single aspect of their entirety. Didn't these posts keep saying how they didn't want to be called ignorant and other names while weaponizong the term "leftists". The irony isn't lost on me. 😏

If Bruce Jenner would have transitioned then entered the olympics would it have been fair? Yes or NO. It would be the same. Post transition, she would have been legally recognized as a woman, taken appropriate hormones, met testosterone level requirements (or whatever would have been in place at the time), and been approved to compete. There is a difference between fairness and equality. All professional athletes are already incredibly advantaged over average people. They are not equal genetically.

Might they have felt like they didn’t have a fair chance to win, probably. I bet the poor 5’10 middles who played against 6’8 Dana Rettke in high school felt the same way.
