Every season ticket holder that I speak with is aware of this forum. The true VB fans love their team and crave information. There is little satisfaction through the local press. So, volley talk here we are, trying to figure it all out. Surprise, Austin is not really a volleyball town. Not yet. Agreed, the local paper is a joke. I was still subscribing during the spiral downward and gave up when they started sub-contracting some of their articles - they used the byline of a Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reporter to give a summation of a Longhorn HOME GAME. the daily texan runs articles aboot the team. i have several complaints about the coverage but at least they're doing it

I am glad that a few eyes are opening to the weight that this chat site carries...and the heavy weight with which it can burden an otherwise healthy young woman. It will probably be temporary, but any respite is good I think. That whole Lexi Sun thread bothers me to no end. I don’t understand why it is still active. Yes, the thread is an embarrassing joke. As for VT, that's life in the fish bowl. All sports at this level benefit or suffer from fan participation. Like it or not, the player, the coach and the university, are in the entertainment business ... and they should get paid more for it.

I have high hopes that Jerritt redshirted Zelon for a reason this year. She seems like a very hard worker as well. And after watching a little bit of Gabriel and Petersen, it seems like they could come in and contribute immediately as well. We honestly really only need one or two to step up out of Rounsaville, Hahn, Petersen, Gabriel, and Zelon. Well we've seen two years out of Rounsaville and Hahn, so anything has to be better. The one scrimmage I saw Zelon in the Spring, I was pretty impressed. Spent the weekend at the beach in Hermosa and heard that Olivia Zelon is confirmed to be transferring out of UT. Should be interesting to see where she goes and why she left Texas.

If true, that's too bad. Wish I could have seen her play real minutes next year. But, gotta do what makes ya happy. You're only this age and free once.

If Zelon was playing at a level where she could have contributed to the team, she would have played in a match last season...especially since she came in a semester early.
She knew what she needed to work on to see the court. Having Rounsaville and Hahn play in front of her is telling IMO. There really is no reason to redshirt a DS, as most have presumed was the case for her.
Sydney Petersen is coming in as the Iowa All-Class Player of the year, and I am hopeful she will hold down the Libero position once she gets on campus. I am also looking forward to seeing what Jhenna Gabriel can do as the DS/secondary setter on the floor playing in Hahn's position.

Olivia seems to have been part of quite a mystery to lots of fans. Most everyone that saw her play had a similar impression of her. Then there was Natalie. She also was impressive the first time she got in a set. She inspired the team and the fans went crazy. Cheers every time she came in. She was solid as a freshman when she and Lauren Beard came in together. Very good credentials before college.
Texas needed some one to come in and save the day. Things were just not getting consistently better as the season went on.
This is a classic example of the of the press not performing. Who knows? Maybe Olivia was a better libero than Catherine.

When does the Spring semester start? Perhaps we'll know where some things stand at that time.

I know it doesn't mean anything and im probably reading too much into it, but Olivia Zelon's instagram profile no longer says "Texas volleyball" just "Los Angeles | Texas"

Factometer, you may have said the magic, or maybe it's the tragic word. BusinessIt seems there is a time in sports when money becomes more important than the sport itself. Has volleyball come to that? Has the elephant in the room just became a decoration? I can't wait for summer. The old lady at the deli will make me the best sandwich ever, cause only she knows how. Grab a tall one to go with it and walk across the street to the soft ball park. The players have little more than T shirts and denim for uniforms but it's okay. Them gals sure play a wicked game of ball and admission is free.
