Yes, the thread is an embarrassing joke. As for VT, that's life in the fish bowl. All sports at this level benefit or suffer from fan participation. Like it or not, the player, the coach and the university, are in the entertainment business ... and they should get paid more for it. Factometer, you may have said the magic, or maybe it's the tragic word. BusinessIt seems there is a time in sports when money becomes more important than the sport itself. Has volleyball come to that? Has the elephant in the room just became a decoration? I can't wait for summer. The old lady at the deli will make me the best sandwich ever, cause only she knows how. Grab a tall one to go with it and walk across the street to the soft ball park. The players have little more than T shirts and denim for uniforms but it's okay. Them gals sure play a wicked game of ball and admission is free. Meester Szaney, you're easily amused.

It's extremely difficult to find great sport void of the annoying influences of money. Money can't buy me love. You know that when The thrill is gone. Question is, how far gone is it. Did y'all get mail telling ya not to forget to buy your tickets for a contest that you're not really sure who the participants will be or if they are planning on having fun? Told me they need me. I sent em a reply. "Thanks for reminding me. I all most forgot."

Olivia seems to have been part of quite a mystery to lots of fans. Most everyone that saw her play had a similar impression of her. Then there was Natalie. She also was impressive the first time she got in a set. She inspired the team and the fans went crazy. Cheers every time she came in. She was solid as a freshman when she and Lauren Beard came in together. Very good credentials before college. Texas needed some one to come in and save the day. Things were just not getting consistently better as the season went on. This is a classic example of the of the press not performing. Who knows? Maybe Olivia was a better libero than Catherine. but speaking of Gilbert she’s slept on her performance in the Tech match was pretty good she could contend next year for a DS role

First, of all...yes, I'm petty. Second, I know Texas has problems. Every team has problems and weaknesses. Third, this is a Texas thread. So there. Reading about job changes and transfers on VT, when I see: OU hires coach, I think " Welcome to the Texas block" A&M hires a new coach.....okay, if you get forced into the Texas Region, which is usually more likely than not.... "Welcome to the Texas block"When I read about a transfer into one of our B12 teams from outside, I think "Welcome to the Texas block"Odd, I couldn't find that many pictures that would fit the idea of "Welcome to the Texas bad pass"

Natalie is a junior and hasn't really seen the court until this past season... so to say she was a solid freshman is an overstatement. And she played more as serving specialist, which she did very well this season, but had to be subbed out because of her lack of back row defense play. Again if Olivia really was a better libero than Cat, she would have at least played ahead of Rounsaville and Hahn. I think if she had any chance to see the court, she would not transfer. The DS position is pretty weak IMO with the current players on the roster (I thought someone stated that Natalie was foregoing her senior season?) and the incoming Freshmen will have to acclimate to the speed of the college game, so we really don't know how they will perform. If there are only going to be 2 DS's on the spring roster vying for the libero position, I really hope the staff will work to improve Micaya's and Lexi's back row play and passing all 6 rotations...as well as see what Yaazie can do in zone 1 playing all the way around.

Texas does have a history of having DS's (all walkons, of course) decide to walk away from the team their junior or senior year. The one I feel the worst for is the one who decided to forgo her senior year the year we last won the NC - after all those years of the practice court! I don't know if it's a conscious decision made on their part or one in which they may have been nudged by the coaches to make room for new blood. We still see Lauren Beard attend the games and she's still tight with the team members. And, I'm sure that if the coaches contact their "go-to" clubs and offer "preferred walkon" status to recommended players, they'd jump at the chance. After all, I think that's how we picked up most of our DS's. The last DS's we had, that I'm pretty sure were walk-ons that stayed the whole 4 years were the Hawaiian gals: Sydney and Kat. But in both cases, they were part of the regular rotation. I guess Claire H and Autumn R will be next to stick the full 4. I don't know their scholarship situation, so I made an assumption they were walk-ons.

Hitting's excellent, blocking's excellent, setting's ok but should improve with solid passing. A top tier libero, turning one of our OH's into a TRUE six rotation player and developing an aggressive serve strategy are paramount. If we are missing one or all of these we'll come up short again. I don't see a squad of inconsistent DS's doing the trick and at this stage of the game I don't see any of our DS's making a run at the libero position. The new libero prospect better have her head screwed on straight.

I say that Natalie was solid as a freshman because her technical skills had a solid foundation. She and Lauren were a toss up for who got the playing time. This year Natalie did not get taken out because of her lacking defense. One receiving error total. She was sound enough to play shallow and take hot balls early that other DS would see skim off their hands a fly past the end line. An absolute rock solid set, frozen frame on the first touch. The ball usually came out steady and quiet. Mr. Elliott and Sullivan are not known for their expertise with rotation schemes. Was a mistake not to let the girl play through several rotations and at least warm up. Natalie was also good at looking through the net and reading the hitters not just playing an area. Yaazie, front row player. How could it have been worse to put in Olivia as a DS? Something funny going on there. With the longhorn press we would never know. Maybe even an injury of some sort. That's my take on things for today.

Well we've seen two years out of Rounsaville and Hahn, so anything has to be better. The one scrimmage I saw Zelon in the Spring, I was pretty impressed. Spent the weekend at the beach in Hermosa and heard that Olivia Zelon is confirmed to be transferring out of UT. Should be interesting to see where she goes and why she left Texas. Will Lexi will be joining her..................................but where?

I don't think the selection or recruitment of DS's are as calculated as you would think and granted with mixed results. Futch came in out of the blue, Paladino local transfer from A&M that just wanted to give it a shot, Gilbert (one of my favorites) may have been instrumental in Ebony coming back home to Texas , AR & CH are local and have been solid at times. All are willing to put in a lot of hard work for the love of the game. Last seasons DS's lacked consistency, but none of them ever stayed on the court long enough to develop a comfort level. When the DS's start missing three serves in a row you know the pucker factor is off the charts and the comfort level is done. The DS dilemma would have been easier to manage if one of the OH's could master the back row as well as the front.

Will Lexi will be joining her..................................but where? Your a real piece of work, and need to stop with the trolling. All of this talk is a total fabrication and people don't realize that when players get on here and read untrue statements it causes the player in question unneeded stress, and teammates all wonder what is going on which causes unneeded conversations. If your goal was to create some unnecessary headaches for players you achieved your goal. From a reliable source - no release was ever requested or even thought about!
