There was that survey UT's Volleyball Wants to Hear From You! I got a phone call from a rep in the ticket office and spent time answering various questions as I could hear her keyboard clacking away in the background. Of course, I'd already answered the short online survey as well a few weeks earlier. I said I wanted a bigger Gregory, but still "a Gregory"....know-what-I-mean? She said yes that they've had some discussions about that internally on how to increase fan space, but not lose what makes Gregory intimidating to other teams. They need to reconstruct the East seating area. |

Playing racketball there was a marathon sweat-fest. I'm not sure they can do much more to it. I did recommend adding another video board on the opposite side of the tiny one on the East side. That seemed the only reasonable thing they could do, short of a major demolition. Found this on Google: In December of 1995, Gregory Gymnasium was closed to begin a $26.8 million renovation. Completed after 22 months of construction, the facility reopened on Nov. 12, 1997. The renovated Gregory Gym features a retail store, exercise lounge, the Outdoor Rental Center, the Wellness Center, an indoor jogging/walking track, an indoor climbing wall, and air conditioning throughout the building. In addition, the redesign created a bright and airy setting that unites the heritage and tradition of the old Gregory with the functional, state-of-the-art design of the modern interior.
p.s. As an ex-student walking back into Gregory for the first time (a few years ago), I was blown away by what they offer kids these days.

Not that I had seen any mention that any of our 2018 signees would enroll in the Spring, I think the roster confirms that they won't be .

Well, that explains it to me. Again I might add that maybe Olivia was a better libero than Catherine. She was one of my favorite players sad to see her leave. |

That's rare for them to update so quickly and accurately. They usually lag behind until mid-Spring semester when they go, "Oh crap, we still have old players on the roster!" I get the feeling there was a very good reason why the 2017-18 roster was updated so early . . . |

Well, that explains it to me. Again I might add that maybe Olivia was a better libero than Catherine. She was one of my favorite players sad to see her leave. Texas may have let a good thing get away when needed it most. Lot of those beach ball gals have very good libero type skills. Must have been tough watching the Texas D. all year on the sidelines. To her credit she was a riot to watch cheer the team on. Last year I took a look at Olivia's social media. Forget which ones. She seemed like quite a character. I imagine her and Mr. Elliott in conversation. Olivia: Hey, JERRY, you aint reeeally thinkn about Red shirting me are ya? |

I know of a Libero named "Cat", and COACH Jerritt Elliott, a title he has earned.

Forget the weeny roast out front of the gym and the stinking DJ's, just give us a real time scoreboard, in fact, four, all over the place ... and do a better job at posting up to the minute - no - make that SWING - stats! That minisucle - uh - thing - up in the rafters of the west end is weak BS ... and give us ALL STATS: hit %'s and ACES! No stinking ACES, WTF? Come'on Southie, you know Christine, show us how much stroke you have.

That was certainly was one recommendation included in my wish list. What was especially sad about the stats board is that advertising dominated most of the space most of the time. Perhaps you can pay for it then. The university tells me that's what I am doing when I buy my season tickets. |

I have no idea who Catherine or Mr. Elliott are. I know of a Libero named "Cat", and COACH Jerritt Elliott, a title he has earned. Catherine Anne McCoy At least one of her teammates call her Catherine. I love that name. Had an aunt with that name. Many called her Caddy. I thought it more respectful to call her Catherine. Mr. Elliott is not a disrespectful title. I do for the most part reserve the use of the title coach for individuals who have impressed me over the years with their extraordinary skills and success. I am impressed with his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. Tough classes. I have been curious about how he got his in to coaching. Former VB players that have had much success on the court have always been special for me. I never felt Mr. Elliott earned a high grade with his playing credentials. Have seen him play. IMO Texas could do much better. It was so sad when I saw my dream coach Salima Rockwell retire. I understand that many players and fans love Mr. Elliott. That same love affair also exists with a whole lot of other teams and their coaches. Sorry if I at all offend the coach Elliott tribe. Maybe one his fans could help me with might be a mistake in Mr. Elliott's bio. Texas sports has written: "Elliott played collegiate volleyball at Pepperdine in 1986-88." Pepperdine won the national championship in 1986. I do not see Mr. Elliott in the team photo or his name listed on the roster for that year. I do wish Mr. Elliott well. After all, Texas is the home team, for now. |
